A HEAVENLY PERSPECTIVE
''... Great is your reward in heaven ...' ' Luke 6:23
'I'm... a... Christian...' It only took three little words and before you know it, the life you had, the friends you had, even the family you had, all turned upside down. The bullying. People laughing at you each time you walk in the room. Maybe it's even turned physical.
Jesus says, 'Count yourself blessed every time someone cuts you down or throws you out, every time someone smears or blackens your name to discredit me. What it means is that the truth is too close for comfort and that that person is uncomfortable.
You can be glad when that happens-skip like a lamb, if you like!-for even though they don't like it, I do . . . and all heaven applauds. And know that you are in good company; my preachers and witnesses have always been treated like this' (Luke 6:22-23 TM).
Now that doesn't mean you become a human doormat. If you're getting bullied, make sure you tell someone - there are laws against it and teachers and parents can help. But God does see a direct connection between the good you do for Him and the good He'll do for you when you get to heaven: '...He will reward each person according to what he has done.' (Matthew 16:27 NIV)
'So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you have to endure many trials for a little while' (1 Peter 1:6 NLT).
What now? What could you do to serve God and His kingdom more? Share your ideas with friends who could help and encourage you.
