To boldly go...
'approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.' HEBREWS 4:16
To boldly go where no man has gone before! Recognise the phrase from Star Trek? The space ship, reaching places that had never been seen before! Of course it's just SciFi fantasy; we've not mastered travelling through space in that way just yet! But because of Jesus we are all able to boldly go where no man or woman could go before; directly to God. Before Jesus came to earth not everyone was able to talk directly to God.
Animal sacrifices had to be made and certain people were chosen, priests, to go into a place in the centre of the temple and talk to God on behalf of all the people. Often they would tie a long rope around one ankle, so they could be dragged out in case they died in there! Can you imagine having to pray like that? Those guys didn't walk in there with confidence to enjoy Gods' company.
They went in scared stiff wondering if they'd be coming out alive! Crazy huh? But because God loves us so much, He chose to send His only Son, Jesus, to the earth, to die the ultimate sacrifice, so through believing in Jesus, we can talk with God whenever we want to, we can be forever with God (John 3:16) It's amazingly fantastic! Go confidently, boldly, to God; He's waiting.
