Seeing beyond our differences
'So in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others..' ROMANS 12:5
In life, and particularly in churches we can all have different opinions. Whole denominations are founded upon small differences in how they read the Bible; things that at the end of the day make no difference to whether you love God or whether you're spending eternity with Him!
Using these differences to divide believers and split churches is one of satan's most powerful weapons. When a church is at war with itself, how easy is it for him to run riot outside the church?
Churches have split opinions who can do what, how to worship, what we should be focussed on and even over the use of a hat in a Sunday meeting! How crazy is it that there are Christians who have fallen out over a hat?
Evangelist Reinhart Bonke said that he was once criticised for having a woman preach the gospel at one of his African rallies. His response was that if he was drowning he would not care if he was rescued by a man or a woman. The truth is we don't live in a clear cut world and we can all interpret the Bible slightly differently. But if we agree on the important stuff then isn't it time to put aside petty differences and concentrate on what we have in common? Think and pray today what you can do to bring more unity in your community
