Peace in purpose

'You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast.' ISAIAH 26:3

ipods are great. You can bang nails into walls with them. You can use them as a float down the swimming baths. You can even wipe your bottom with them. Well you could do all that, but you'd be a bit of a looney tune if you did, because that's not their purpose. Their purpose is to play your favourite tracks. Its the same with our lives, we can end up banging our heads against brick walls, or literally throw them down the toilet when we're not tuned into their real purpose.

Isaiah knew what that felt like, 'I have laboured to no purpose; I have spent my strength in vain and for nothing' (Isaiah 49:4 NIV). In fact, so did Job, 'I give up; I am tired of living. Leave me alone. My life makes no sense' (Job 7:16 GNT).

Without purpose we make choices on how we feel at the time rather than our commitment to our goal. Stressed and depressed is how we might feel when purpose goes awol. Peace of heart and mind is on the menu when we're on track with our God-given call. Give your life a going over, what things might be good to drop, what things might be good to focus on?

Just because you look busy doesn't mean you've got it all sussed, in fact, when you've got purpose you might be less busy - and less stressed!
