Life isn't a stage show
'Love the Lord your God with all your heart' DEUTERONOMY 6:5
Sometimes it may seem that life is just one big stage show. You may act like one person at home, another at school and yet another at church, and you choose which personality and character traits you want people to see. Your life is like a chest of drawers, and each drawer has a costume and mask in that you put on for different occasions. You could rival Alistair McGowan, you have that many different personas! You probably do it without even thinking. But just stop and think now; which mask do you put on when you're with God? Because whatever it is, it's pretty pointless.
God doesn't see us as a chest of drawers or a collection of separate performances, He sees us as a whole person. When no one is looking, He sees; when you're at school, He sees; when you're in church, He sees. God made us with one will, one mind, one heart, and one spirit. It's the devil's lie that we can 'have it both ways,' being who we want, when we want; but that just leaves us mentally and emotionally frazzled, and worse; distant from God!
God wants us to be the same all the time; no masks, no costumes. How can we do that? By living with integrity, and striving to 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul and all your strength'.
