I don't want to be a Christian! (2)

'Selling their possessions and goods they gave to anyone as he had need.' ACTS 2:45

The Bible says that God wants to bless us. There's an understanding amongst lots of Christians that says God's blessing means if we give ?10 we'll get back ?100; but it's interesting that nowhere in the whole Bible is this the case! In fact, if you read about the start of the church in Acts you'll see just the opposite. Back then, anyone who had ANYTHING they didn't need, whether it was a building, a camel or a PS2(!) sold it. They then put all the money into a big pot and gave it to the poor. That way no one had too much but everyone had enough, they simply shared what God had given them. How amazing is that?

Of course as Christians we all read our Bible and think 'ahh, that's really great. Maybe I should put an extra ?10 in the offering this week'. But maybe as followers of Jesus, it's time for an ebay revolution! After all, why is it we pick and choose what bits of the Bible we like and ignore the rest (telling ourselves that bit's not relevant for today)? Maybe as Christians we spend too much time trying to interpret the Bible to make it fit with what we want it to say. After all, Jesus never owned a thing. So why does the stack of DVDs in the corner keep getting higher?

amen GOd says "the worker is worth his keep" but we should not expect money for money etc. those who are tricked by these T.V. evangelists to give so that they will have some sort of miracle in their lives I feel sorry for them. its a lie if you want to be blessed by God then simply follow Him. God owns all the money in the world he does not need ours for a miracle. we should use discernment when giving money for god's work and do it out of love for God and our neighbor and expect nothing in return. simply know that our Father is there and will take care of all our needs.
