A recipe for faith
'Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.' HEBREWS 1:1
Jacob woke up one morning after having an encounter with God the night before and said, 'Surely the Lord is in this place, and I was not aware of it' (Genesis 28:16 NIV). God got Jacob's attention, gave him a shake and woke up some stuff that had been snoozing in Jacob for a long time:
1) the desire above all else to hear from God
2) the courage to believe God when He speaks
3) the boldness to get out there and do it!
Do those three things need waking up in you today? When you mix those three things together you've got yourself a recipe for Faith! God will speak to you but He won't force you to do anything. You have to make a choice to believe what He says and then do it. When God speaks to us He often does it through people. You are in a process of learning to recognise His voice. Don't be afraid of 'getting it wrong'; Jesus knows that we're still learners with our 'L' plates on!
There's one simple way to get to know God's voice; read His Word! Listen: 'All scripture is God-breathed' (2 Timothy 3:16). How cool is that! You've got a book of Words straight from God's heart to yours! If you live by what He says about you it will change your life forever.
