were some privileged to be born as Christians and some as non Christians - wincam

@ wincam -- no one is born a Christian. Everyone is born physically 1st and then Can be born-'again' spiritually. But no one is born spiritually to start with. Look at John 3. Jesus talking with Nicodemus.

2 Pet 3:9; The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.

1 Tim 2:3; This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,
1 Tim 2:4; who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

No.

Our daily reality and all of scripture confirms that God is impartial and true free will exists. We must not let our limited understanding / ability to grasp God cause us to miss-represent Him.

Never heard of anybody being born a Chritian...It does not happen...Unless you can show a scripture to prove your assertion?

One possible exception "might" be John the Baptist.

Luke 1:15; For he will be great in the sight of the Lord; and he will drink no wine or liquor, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit while yet in his mother’s womb.
Luke 1:16; And he will turn many of the sons of Israel back to the Lord their God.
Luke 1:17; It is he who will go as a forerunner before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers back to the children, and the disobedient to the attitude of the righteous, so as to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”

This doesn't mean John the Baptist "IS" Elijah, but rather that he had a spirit and power of Elijah.

John was executed before Christ launched Christianity.

Heb 9:16-18 . . In the case of a will, it is necessary to prove the death of the one who made it, because a will is in force only when somebody has died; it never takes effect while the one who made it is living.

Christianity is being right with God. An argument could be made that those prior to Christ were Christians looking to / waiting for Christ.

Adam for example must have known of 1 Pet 1:20.

Very interesting passage you found there BAC. I am surprised you did not use this in the thread on free will. It is a verse that is saying God made John a vessel unto honor.

We cannot however accept that that is the A-Z of this passage. All of scripture shines light on age of accountability, each person deciding to follow Jesus. As such this verse must be talking to him chosen for this as Judas was a disciple chosen to be an apostle.

When John accepted and gave in to his calling, an argument can be made for Him being a Christian.

Jesus was the only person who was born of the water (physical birth), and born of the Spirit without sin.

@ Curtis -- Jesus was the Son of God. True -- He was born physically -- but He didn't have to be born of the Spirit. Because of His deity, He was without sin.

Luke 1:34 Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?
Luke 1:35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

I'm not sure I know the answer... but I wonder if there is a difference between being "born" of the Spirit ( John 3:3; John 3:5; )
and being "conceived" by the Holy Spirit". ( Matt 1:20; )

It seems Christians can be born of the Spirit. But it appears only Jesus was "conceived" by the Holy Spirit.

This might be a good topic to study.

One thought here is... we are "conceived", about 9 months before we are "born".

@ B-A-C -- I was just trying to send you a 'like' for your # 14.

My comment was Trying to say that because Jesus Christ was the Son of God -- He didn't need to be 'born-again' as Jesus Christ was explaining to Nicodemus in John 3. A normal person -- you and I have been physically born, but in order to enter eternal life in heaven -- we need to be born Again -- having the Holy Spirit come to indwell us.

Yes, only Jesus was "conceived' by the Holy Spirit.

The rest of us had to have egg and ***** unite / be fertilized -- a man and woman getting together.

Spiritual birth is very similar to physical birth. The planting of the seed of the Word of God, and the watering, and finally God giving the increase is like being born in a normal way, but spiritual in nature.

Gal 4:19 My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you,

Well -- as I've given birth to 4 babies. The ***** comes from a male To the female. Doesn't always result in a pregnancy or live birth. Each labor is different. There are 9 months in which to miscarry or give birth.

Spiritually -- I heard about salvation for a Long time Before accepting Him, Jesus Christ as Savior. Spiritually we have a choice -- conviction doesn't always bring forth Spiritual birth right away,. And sometimes it never does.

The parable of the sower is about people who receive the word of God into their hearts, and then that person must protect that "seed" from the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, the lusts of other things, offenses, and afflictions that could cause a miscarriage, and stopping the seed from bringing forth it's fruit. (New birth)

1Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

The Word of God is about "seed", "time", harvest" Physical birth is about "seed", "time", "birth" pretty much the same.
