"To him that knoweth to do good and doeth it not, to him it is sin"
James 4:17

When you or I think in terms of sin, we think of the sins of commission, and usually of the more sensual sins: we think these are wicked sins.

For 21 years I was in the Church and I prayed with the people the general prayer of the General Confession:...'We have left undone those things which we ought to have done; and we have done those things which we ought not to have done'

I want to suggest that when the final of your sins and mine is made clear, the sins we committed are not going to be most serious sins. The things we have left undone that we ought to have done, these are the great sins.

When we could have given and we didn't give; when we could have spoken and we didn't speak; when we could have prayed and we did not pray; when we could have invited and we did not invite.

I would submit that among the greatest sinners in any church on any Sunday are the most respectable citizens in the community. Its not what they have been doing what is wrong; it is what they have not been doing, that which God has made wonderfully possible for them to do, and maybe them alone.

Are you willing to get involved? God has given you a personality that is quite unique. There is no one else on the entire earth quite like you - for which maybe some folks are very glad. Doh.

You are quite unique. But there is another uniqueness about you, you have a circle on contacts which no other has. You are reaching people others will never reach. In fact you are reaching people which no-one else can reach. Therefore if you are not reaching them ....nobody is.

That is why God needs you.

"To him that knoweth to do good and doeth it not, to him it is sin"
James 4:17

Matte 23:13 But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.

We are to have life and enjoy it more abundantly, while we are advocates of God and spreading the true Gospel of the death, burial and resurrection of his son Jesus Christ.

Listen I understand the point you are trying to make and I agreed with what you were saying up until you said "That is why God needs you." It pleased God to use us to reach people but he does not need us. The argument is good but you came up with the wrong conclusion.

By his own choice, God needs you. It is you that God works through; and it is you that God produces his fruit (works) through and not your own doing.
Of course God needs no one to accomplish anything, but he choose man and is dependent on him to spread the Gospel through out the world. From Noah,to Moses, Prophets, Abraham, Jesus, Apostles, and you and me, God has ALWAYS used man and unless he changes the order of things that he has sanctioned, God is very much dependent on you and I.

Stephen that was a great post, thanks! The Lord looks for a willing vessel and it is our job to move with the leading of the Holy Spirit, nothing more and certainly nothing less. It is He who will lead us into both the very center of God's will for us and cause our lives to be perfect expressions of the love of Christ (the fruit of the Spirit).

I disagree with you 'cman' God needs you brother 'cmen'. You are unique for Jesus.

May you realise this. You are unique and Jesus wants to use you as you open up to him....daily. You may be surprised as has been the case with so many folks.

The best word for us christians to be described as is : recipients.
In some way we can be described as spiritual robots too, that's because in regeneration God writes His laws on our HDD (which is our hearts)

All the children of God will have in the end the image of God in them to a different degree, this also will be reflected in our resurrected bodies.

Ill recommend a very good sermon on Romans 2:10 by Jonathan Edwards called "The Portion of the Righteous" dated december 1740
Here Edwards describes very clearly what will happen in Heaven and in Resurrection.

God Bless!

God does not need us in the sense of "need" referring to filling up something that is lacking in His nature. But, He created man for the specific purpose of sharing in His love. His need for us, therefore, is a created need stemming from the fact that we are essential elements of His plan for creation.

In my opinion, the word that best describe a true Christian is disciple.

Your analogy is faulty. Do you realize that a robot is a machine, not a human being? That a robot cannot think like a human thinks; that a robot has no conscience, no sense of right and wrong; that it cannot function like a human functions?

Romans 8:28

28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
