Why Does Jesus Love Mealtimes?

Still they stood there in disbelief, filled with joy and wonder. Then he asked them, "Do you have anything here to eat?" They gave him a piece of broiled fish, and he ate it as they watched. Luke 24:41-43 NLT

Doesn’t it seem a bit unusual that Jesus spent so much time eating and drinking with His disciples? What does stopping to have a meal have to do with anything It’s something people do all the time—which is exactly why Jesus seized upon it.

Repeatedly throughout His earthly ministry, Jesus talked about the wonderful feast in the kingdom of heaven, when the Lord would celebrate with believers from all ages in glory. It’s a banquet no one wants to miss! Then, right before His death, Jesus transformed the bread and wine of the Passover feast into powerful symbols of what the Christian faith is all about.

After His resurrection, Jesus kept right on eating with His disciples. His first meal was with an otherwise unknown disciple named Cleopas, who never looked at food and drink the same again. Every piece of broiled fish, every slice of fresh-baked bread, and every cup of wine became an instant reminder to thank the risen Lord!

Prayer: Unswerving Lord, I can’t wait to eat with You at the marriage supper of the Lamb. In the meantime, change how I look at every meal.

Luke 22:17 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves:
18 For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.

There is a Marriage Supper coming for why He is coming as the Bridegroom first to take those abiding in Him to the Marriage Supper to be held above.

Those abiding in iniquity still, should call on Jesus Christ today to help them depart from them and any unknown iniquity that would prevent them from joining that feast in sincerity and in truth to avoid excommunication by Jesus Christ.

Luke 13:24 Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.
25 When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:
26 Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.
27 But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.
28 There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.
29 And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God.

30 And, behold, there are last which shall be first, and there are first which shall be last.

Keep your eyes on the Son aka the Bridegroom and not on the Holy Spirit nor the bread nor the wine at communion when both are pointing you to look to the Son, the Bridegroom Himself for He shall be coming soon.

1 Corinthians 5:1It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife.
2 And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you.
3 For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed,

4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,
5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

6 Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?
7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:
8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

9 I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators:
10 Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world.
11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolator, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.

12 For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within?
13 But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.

Do call on Him today and trust Him as your Good Shepherd to have you ready as found abiding in Him as well as being willing to go, before the Bridegroom comes like a thief in the night.

1 John 3:3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure....
8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

2 Timothy 4:18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Jude 1:24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, 25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
