Why Bad Things Happen To Good People

2 Cor 1:3-4
3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;
4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
KJV

James 1:2-4
2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
KJV

Rom 5:1-5
5 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
KJV

That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. - Matthew 5:45

We're always going to have our trials and tribulations in this life. We live in a fallen world and the Lord never said things will always be a breeze. ''If ye endure until the end, ye shall be saved''.

You do realize that many Pastors take that verse out of context in that God kills, sends trials, takes loved ones, and so on for the just, and unjust?

I heard a Pastor use that very verse when giving the news of a Christian family who had been killed in a car wreak, that attended that Church. Totally misrepresenting God, and twisting the Word for lack of something really comforting to say to everyone.

Jesus statement was that God is good to both the Just and even the unjust, sending rain when needed and the sun. Rain was much appreciated in those days.

Jesus Is Lord.

Yeah, I understand where you're coming from. It wouldn't be an appropriate word to hear in all circumstances, and pinning deaths on God, like that pastor presumed, isn't wise at all.
