Fulfilled prophecy is one evidence that the Bible is the Word of God. For example, the final journey of Jesus was prophesied in Zechariah 9:9, "Behold, your king is coming to you; He is just and endowed with salvation, humble and mounted on a donkey."
Many people call the date of this last journey Palm Sunday. Why? The community greeted Jesus with great exuberance. "Most of the multitude spread their garments in the road, and others were cutting branches from the trees and spreading them in the road" (Matthew 21:8). And the people cried out, "Hosanna to the Son of David; blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord; hosanna in the highest" (Matthew 21:9). The Bible also says the people "took branches of the palm trees, and went out to meet Him" (John 12:13). It must have been quite a scene. "And Jesus, finding a young donkey, sat on it" (John 12:14). Now this took place that what was spoken through the prophet might be fulfilled, saying, `Say to the daughter of Zion, behold your king is coming to you, gentle, and mounted on a donkey'" (Matthew 21:4-5).
All of this is evidence that the Bible is the Word of God. It is not a book of fantasy. It is a book of prophecy fulfilled in intimate detail by Jesus Christ.
