Unlike some assume, God does not promise that Abraham will be the father of one nation, Israel. Rather, God promises Abraham that he will be the father of "a multitude of nations (the Hebrew literally means multitude of nations)" Genesis 17:5. Jesus is instrumental in carrying out this promise in Matthew 28:18-20.
The promise to Abraham is underscored by Paul in Romans Chapter 4. And we learn in Revelation 7:9-10 that Abraham in essence, becomes the spiritual father of all nations, peoples, tribes and tongues. When our father in heaven promises something, he delivers in his own way and in his own time. This archaeological video traces the footsteps of Abraham Here.
