Who is Jesus, and God, what does it mean to be "Reborn"

I am 15, I am homeschooled, I play quite some video games, and a lot of people I know go to church, but I don't go because I don't see a reason to besides visiting with friends, they lift their hands and sing and pray and I go there and don't see why they do that, I just want to know more about Jesus, I hardly know if he's real or not.
