For eons, man has tried to paint God into a corner by saying who we think he is.
St. Paul said (paraphrasing): " As humans we only know God in part but, there will come a time when we will know him fully as well as He knows us...that is perfection my friend, that is heaven!
But, God Himself has revealed to us exactly who He is, not at first but eventually and fully. In Exodus, while up on Mt. Sinai receiving the Ten Commandments, Moses asked God who He is, what shall I tell the people who you are. And, Gods answer was simply the 'Great I Am'. God said, " I am who I am, tell them that "I Am" has sent you.
I am sure that that the people were even more mystified who God really was. It was like he was saying to them, I am who I am and that is enough for now and get over it! But, eventually God reveals himself fully through His son Jesus Christ through the seven "Great I Ams".
Jesus was God incarnate, God made flesh and, Jesus tells us who God is; all found in the Book of John:

- "I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in me and I in him,he will bear much fruit, apart from me you can do nothing".
