I am reminded of a popular credit card commercial that asks "What's in your wallet".

Talking to some people this week and asking them how they got saved was revealing.

1. There was alter call, I raised my hand and went up and got prayed for.
2. I was dedicated as a baby, confirmed as a teenager.
3. I was baptized.
4. I was filled with the Holy Spirit.

Yet I wonder if any of those things is really how we get saved.
In Matt 7:23; Jesus tells people that say they knew Him that He never knew them.

Jesus tells those in Luke 13:27; that He doesn't know them either.
In Matt 25:12; Jesus tells five of the virgins He doesn't know them.

Now of course the Bible says He knows the number of the hairs on our head, and He knew us
before we were formed in our mothers womb. But I think the verses above are more about
"do you know Him?"

It seems from the verses above that not everyone who thinks they know Him actually does.
So how do we know if we really know Him?

Some say Jesus give grace or faith to a select few and refuses to give it to others.
But could it be more than that? Could it be that knowing Him is also required.

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to
them that believe on his name:

Greetings,

From what I know, Knowing is quite an intimate relationship, perhaps best understood in terms of marriage.

Also the idea of Coupled comes to mind.

We see this not only in human relationships but also in engineering and carpentry where a perfect union is vital for strength and stress enduring bonds.

Another way we see it is in dependence as in grafting as a horticultural term where one might even see a co-dependence as the grafted branch provides in return for or perhaps more correctly as a consequence to being grafted in.

From a Scriptural viewpoint, the Lord spoke of keeping His commandments.
Is there a connection possible here to be found in the above examples?

Bless you ....><>

Not only Him, but who else do we know? Of those that followed Him. Not only do we come to know them, but each other as well; if you know Him, you should know me also, for we bare witness one of another. Being in one accord with Him, unifies the body of believers in Him.

1Jn_2:3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

1Jn_2:5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.

1Jn_4:13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.

1Jn_5:20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
