Transgression speaks to the wicked deep in his heart; there is no fear of God before his eyes. For he flatters himself in his own eyes that his iniquity cannot be found out and hated. Psalm 36:1-2 ESV
Sin is pervasive. It seeks to infect every area of our lives. When sin whispers that we are the most important person in existence, that we deserve to be happy, and that it doesn’t matter what we do because no consequence will catch up to our sneakiness, we may forget this truth: we are not our own because God has paid a hefty price to rescue us from those whispering sins.
Sin pulls us out of reality and places us into fantasy. It makes us like children who cover their eyes and think they’re invisible. No one can see me, they think, because I can’t see anyone.
God always sees. Nothing is hidden from Him, even what is within our hearts. When sin comes to blind us toward its effects and convince us that we should act as we please, we need to remember the truth. We live for the glory of God (not our own) and at the pleasure of God’s will (still not ours).
Don’t believe the whispering sins. Believe the Spirit that dwells within. Spend time with God earch day so you can tell the difference between their voices.
Prayer: Loving God, thank You for forgiving me of my sins at the cross. Close my ears to sin’s whispers, and open my eyes to reality.
