Which Gospel are WE preaching?

I am shocked at the amount of people who preach false gospels.

First of all I want to say that the PROSPERITY gospel is a disgrace to God. It is humanism in its fullness. I pray God saves those who preach it.

What is the prosperity gospel?

It is a gospel preached that meets the needs of human being. It tells them that if they accept Jesus then they will be blessed with a Mercedes Benz, their drink problems will go away, their marriages will be fixed etc.

This is an abomination to the name of Jesus.

Why?

Jesus didn’t die to meet mans need; he didn’t die in order for us to have a happy clippie existence.
HE DIED BECAUSE THE KING IS WORTHY. The only way God can get glory out of a mere sinful man was by sending Himself to die and justify us. Jesus drank the entire wrath of God on the cross. The Lord was pleased to crush Him (Isaiah 53). He declared us to be right through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 1:30). We are now justified because of Jesus and Him ONLY (Romans 5:1).

HE DID NOT DIE TO MEET MANS NEEDS

Ephesians 2:1-10 And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest. But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.
It is all because of Him and He saved us so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
It is also utterly wrong to preach the gospel because people are going to hell. We do not preach to people because we feel sorry for them because they are going to spend an eternity in hell. We preach Christ and Christ crucified because God is worthy of man’s praise.

Do not feel sorry for people going to hell. They deserve the just punishment of their indecent ways.

Preach because you love God and you hate the fact that they are transgressing His righteous way.

Nowhere in the bible is there a motive to preach because people are going to hell.

Romans 1:13-16 – Paul preached because he was obligated. It was his debt. He was eager to preach the gospel because he was under obligation from God and it is the power of salvation unto those who believe. NOT BECAUSE HE FELT SORRY FOR MEN GOING TO HELL.

Lastly I want to point out in Galatians 1:8-9
But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed! As we have said before, so I say again now, if any man is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be accursed!

If we preach a false gospel then we will be cursed.

Keep preaching the truth.

P.s The true gospel is found throughout the bible but i think the book of Romans gives a clear description of it!

Well said against the prosperity gospel! its all that and more i think.

One thing you said concerned me - dont care about those going to hell....that was not the attitude of Jesus who did care....He loves us so much He died for us (as clearly stated in scripture love 'whilst we were still sinners Christ died for us')...so we are to love those on the path to hell and we preach for that reason as well as the reason you rightly pointed out.

We are to love sinners because God loves them (He hates what they do as we should also) but He loves all enough to die for us....we to should be willing to die for the worse sinner...because our Lord was.

The forum is 'talkjesus' and that is what we uphold here, and talk here....Jesus.

You are right to express your concern re "false gospels" But after pointing out such error.........come back and praise His Name.

On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand.

Amen, the ones going to hell will deserve what they get, but what we need to realize is that we also deserve hell. The only reason we're not going to hell is because of Jesus Christ. So we must share the gospel to all nations and have love in our hearts when we do so.

Matthew 28:19
"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:" KJV

Ephesians 4:15
"But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:" KJV

Good point. The only thing we need to be concerned right now in this sinful world of prospering is in Salvation in Jesus Christ. To mature, to deepen our faith and relationship within GOD, yet to bless others to proper in faith in and understanding of Jesus Christ, the love of GOD through Him.

The ones that are going to hell are going there b/c they CHOOSE their way above God's ways. Romans says everything around us declares Him so we're w/o excuse. That in itself tells us there is a God. So how do we learn His ways? By seeking to know Him. Seek and ye shall find. How many know there's a God but seek their way in life? Most everybody, few truly trust. So, like Cody says, we all deserve hell, except for we answered Jesus' call on our lives. And how do people hear w/o having someone to tell them? It all comes to motives, I think, are we motivated to be ambassadors, after all He equipts us for this, but too many are awol.
Is His call a life of luxery? Well, I've seen the signposts for the way to the apostles mansions and I think prosperity is on the wrong road.

Prosperity isn't the problem, it's when prosperity takes the place of the relationship to the Father through the work of Christ. Having "money" is a good thing ( so you can help others in need ). When your focus becomes having things instead of having the Father, that's when it is a problem.

Hmm this is where we differ. I do not believe we choose Jesus at all - i believe He choose us. I believe we are still fully deserving of hell and its only by the grace of God that we are not going there (God choose us so that even in that one wise choice in our lives made - it was only cause the Holy Spirit opened our hearts).

Thats why i believe its so important we love non Christians - 1st because God does and 2nd in recognician of the amazing position that we have purely because of the grace of God.

I speak this primaraly because of my own experience. I know that if God had not touched my heart and opened it i would have continued in my own faithless way strait into the mouth of hell....maby other people have a different experience but by the way i was saved i have no doubt it was all God and His grace and love.

Hi willb,

Sorry if i made it out we shouldnt care for sinners. I totally agree. My point was that our attitude to preaching the gospel should not be because they are going to hell, but because they are not bringing glory to God!

God does not mind us having money, but one must not seek this first, and value it over Him. He has warned us about this many times in scripture.

Mat 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

I do see a lot of this prosperity gospel being taught out there and it's frightening to say the least. By this, you will know them by their fruits. If all they talk about is the worldly things, then one needs to question it.

Personally, when you seek God with your whole heart, money is not important anyway.

Mat 6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
Mat 6:20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
Mat 6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also

I stated that we answered His call, not that we chose Him initially. Many are called, few are chosen, but that doesn't eliminate free choose.
Jesus comes to us and opens our heart and love is returned, but the option to turn our backs on Him is always there.
That was the difference that I was refering to.
First comes the Knowledge of Him, and our return of seeking
