Answers are the results of questions we have asked. If we do not have the answers, most likely it is because we never asked the questions.
When I was a young Christian I had a lot of questions, and it seemed like it took years to get any answers. That all changed as the years went by, and as I grew in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Now I get answers almost immediately when asking the Lord any question! Why is that?
Jesus said, “When the Holy Spirit comes he will bring to remembrance all things I have said to you”
(John 14:26)
The problem is we can not be reminded of things we did not know! We can only be reminded of the things Jesus has already spoken to us! The Word of God needs to put into the “heart” (spirit) of man, which comes only after Jesus has spoken them to us by the Holy Spirit. The more Jesus has spoken to us, the more the Holy Spirit can remind us of those things later!
We might think, “well, when I read the Bible that is Jesus speaking to me” That is not always true, because Jesus is NOT the words (plural) found in the Bible, he is the Word (singular) of God! If we think Jesus is the words in the Bible we are in deep trouble! Jesus said......
John 5:39 SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and THEY ARE THEY WHICH TESTIFY OF ME.
The scriptures (words of God) only “testify” to who Jesus is, not that he himself is the words of God! What does this mean? It means without having a relationship with God the Father through his Son Jesus Christ by prayer, the words contained in the Bible will just be words that have no meaning.
Jesus only speaks when God the Father speaks to us because he (Jesus) only speaks what his father tells him to say!
John 12:49 That is because what I taught was not from myself. THE FATHER WHO SENT ME TOLD ME WHAT TO SAY AND WHAT TO TEACH. (ERV)
Jesus said when the Holy Spirit comes, he will only speak what he has heard! (John 16:13)
John 16:13 But when the Spirit of truth comes, he will lead you into all truth. HE WILL NOT SPEAK HIS OWN WORDS. HE WILL SPEAK ONLY WHAT HE HEARS and will tell you what will happen in the future. (ERV)
The sequence is when God the Father speaks it causes the Son of God (Word of God) to speak, which in turn causes the Holy Spirit to speak! Prayer is vital to knowing the Bible! We can not know anything about what the Bible means without having an intimate relationship with God himself!
If I ask not I will have not, and if I have not it is because I can not be reminded of what I do not know!
If I ask (question(s)) I need to ask in faith believing if I really want the answer(s), and once the answer(s) comes I can be reminded of that later (years or more) by the Holy Spirit!
Seeking, and knocking to find requires questions as to how, when and where the Kingdom is followed by answers to those questions!
Once we stop asking "questions" (maybe we think we know it all already) we stop growing spiritually!
The more answers we get from questions the faster he can learn!
