Where is the God of the Bible?

Do you ever wonder where the God of the Bible is? C'mon now and be honest. Sometimes when I read about all the exciting things Jesus and His disciples accomplished, I wonder why it's not more like that today. Another way of putting it is that my experience continually falls short of my expectations, and it seems that my expectations are based on Scripture.

Have you ever felt this way? In John 14 Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father". Now don't let your theology get in the way for a moment; take this statement at face value. And this verse is not alone. I could list dozens of verses that declare God's intent to 'light up our lives'... So what gives? Certainly God has not changed, and neither has His desire for us to reach our lost and dying world with His message of love and forgiveness. So the real question should be - Where are the disciples of the Bible? Where are the people who will 'give up everything to follow Jesus'? Where are the people who have 'faith to move mountains'?

Where are the people who 'wait upon the Lord' until he empowers them from on high? Jesus once questioned whether He would find faith on the earth when He returned. My challenge to you is that we make sure that He will indeed find faith when He returns. In fact, let's begin with what He called "the faith of a child". Let's set aside our logic and reasoning for a while and just believe, really believe.

Let's ask Him to open the eyes of our hearts so we can get a glimpse of the eternal spiritual realm. Let's step out in faith, knowing that God wants to break loose and bring revival to our dead and dying world. Lord, fill us with your Spirit, cleanse us with your Blood, and protect us with your Angels. Empower us to be your Witnesses. Establish your Kingdom here today. God be with you all...
