Job 1:7 "And the Lord said unto satan, whence comest thou? Then satan answered the Lord, and said, from going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down it."

My question is: Is satan with us? Can he be omnipresent? What about when we are tempted, is satan beside us?

I have to ask because it's been scaring me a lot lately. I feel that every time a temptation arises the devil was sitting beside me. I want Jesus to be beside me always. I can't find scripture that tells if satan is beside us and watches us and has the same omnipresence as Jesus.

Satan is not omnipresent (everywhere at the same time).

He’s fast, but not omnipresent.
Being a creature who dwells on earth, Satan cannot be in more than one place at a time. Job1:7 makes it clear that Satan roams here and there. He was thrown to earth in a war with Michael and other angels and "lost his place in heaven" (Revelation 12:8). If Satan can "lose his place," then he is not in every place.
But Satan is the head of a network of subordinate devils who make his influence felt all over the earth (Matthew 12:24).

by Dennis Rupert .

C. S. Lewis gave us some sage advice regarding worrying about the devil. In the prologue to "The Screwtape Letters" he wrote something to the effect that there are two things the demons love: 1) People not believing in their existence and 2) People obsessing over their existense. "But I will show you whom you should fear (have reverential respect for): Fear Him (God) who , after the killing of the body, has power to cast you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear Him." (Lk 12:5).

Keep in mind that Satan is a defeated foe. His fate is sealed and he knows it; "...woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has gone down to you! He is filled with fury because he knows his time is short." (Rev 12:12b)

This scripture "...woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has gone down to you!" scares me. It makes me feel as if satan is here with me in this room.

We know who the prince of this world is: John 14:30 "Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me."

I am aware that satan is doomed and has but a short time (thank the Lord Jesus). I suppose what I'm trying to ask is, everytime a sin is made by a person was satan right there? Can humans sin on their own without the presence of satan?

And...If we invite Jesus into our lives can satan still come to us personally to tempt us? Can Jesus and satan be in the same room?
I know he personally came to Jesus while he was in the wilderness 40 days and 40 nights.

We should not fear the devil, only acknowledge his existence

Romans 8:15 ( (KJV)
15For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father
.

Can humans sin on their own without the presence of satan
The enemy plants the seed, and its our choice to allow that sin to grow in our hearts. All he does is feed our desires, he will plant the cake but we choose to eat it or not.

Proverbs 5:22 (NKJV)
22 His own iniquities entrap the wicked man,
And he is caught in the cords of his sin

And...If we invite Jesus into our lives can satan still come to us personally to tempt us?
Yes.
Ecclesiastes 7:20 (KJV)
20For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not
.

That's why so many Christians fall, they get all high and mighty thinking the race is over. Temptation will always exist, we battle our flesh daily.
The bible would not instruct us to equip ourselves for nothing.

Ephesians 6:10-11
10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes

Concerning Sin.

Romans 6:1-6
1What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

2God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

3Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

4Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

5For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

6Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

Can Jesus and satan be in the same room?
I know my Lord can be any where he wants, as for us we can not entertain both.

Now that clears things up for me, thank you! Thank you for your answers. This verse:
Ephesians 6:10-11
10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes
YES!

I confess that I've been thinking about satan and his ways maybe too much lately. I'm sensitive to the wrong that is in this world and I see his imprints all over. I thought I have seen a man possessed and it shook me up a lot. There are people I know quite well here who are very against God. They entertain the devil in all they do and say and it is disturbing me. And we can't entertain both...you are right!

Wow Rizen well said! Thanks for the awesome reference!!!

The simple thing to understand that satan is not everywhere like God but the operation of demonic things are everywhere of armys of demon where Satan order them to do.

God is everywhere not the devil, is like God is faster then the speed of light!

God IS everywhere and NOT the devil....this is the answer I needed. I never actually knew that the devil couldn't be everywhere. I am pleased with the answer. God bless you all!

Some people seem to think that Satan is God's opposite. That's so far from the truth. God has no opposite. To be an opposite, you have to be an equal, and the Lord God has no equal. If Satan is opposite of anyone, it would be the archangel Michael, and you find in Revelation that Michael has dealings with him.

"And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. " Rev 12:7-8 (NKJV)

We should be wary of the devil, in that we should flee temptation and not give him a foothold, but we should also remember that he is a defeated enemy.

"You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world." 1 John 4:4 (NKJV)

Hi mouse,
Satan's greatest power is the lie. And he always mixes a little bit of truth with every lie, which is why they're so powerful.

Satan has no attributes of God. He is not all-knowing, all-powerful nor everywhere present. Nor can he read your thoughts like God. However, when he sinned in heaven, desiring to dethrone God, scripture tells us he took a third of the stars with him, meaning a third of the angels with him (Rev. 12:4).

If you understand how countless the stars of the sky are, that gives a bit of a picture of the number of angels God created. This is not to say, necessarily, that there are as many angels as stars; but the idea of the metaphor used in Revelation 12:4 is to indicate the vast number of angels God created, a third of which joined Satan in his rebellion against God. Most of these are down here on earth, roaming about.

That's a lot of demons and demonic activity doing everything they can to thwart the will of God on earth.

So, it may seem like Satan is everywhere present, but it's only that he has a vast number of demons hard at work 24/7 trying to mess up things.

Again, his greatest power is the lie. In fact, scripture tells us that it is the language he speaks: When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it (the father of lies) (John 8:44)

But if you are sensing a lot of demonic activity around you and in your life, you may need to examine some things. Do you have any articles in your house that might attract demonic activity, such as a Ouji board or dreamcatcher or something else? Even unconfessed sin can be invitation for demonic bondage in a person's life. I say this not to scare you, but exhort you.

Before I was a Christian, when I was just a teenager, I used to play the card game Solitaire. I would sit in my room and play it for hours. One day, I decided, and I don't even know where the idea came from, that I would concentrate on the cards to know which card to move or turn up at every move, and I was able to win every game. In fact, I never lost one after that, if I recall correctly.

Shortly thereafter, I began to have intense fears of Satan that seemed to come out of nowhere. I was afraid to go to sleep at night and became very afraid of the dark. I was so afraid Satan was going to make me get up in the middle of the night while I was asleep and do evil things. This went on for about a year or two, and I became so terrified, I almost couldnt' function.

And I'd been praying and praying and praying and asking God for help to no avail.

Finally, one day my brother said, why don't you just sit down and really ask Jesus about it. I didnt' know Jesus at the time, but I didn't know I didn't know Him, but I prayed and asked Him why I was so afraid.

And He did answer me. He simply brought to mind the card game I'd been playing, and I knew instantly I had been caught up in occult activity. It was clear as a bell suddenly, and I immediately turned my back on it, and my fears vanished on the spot and I have never ever struggled with it since. I didn't become a Christian that day, but I knew Jesus had answered my prayer that day.

All of that to say, there may be a reason you are having these fears and don't realize it. Or, maybe Satan's just been playing with your mind and making you afraid on account of his vicious lies. You need to study the truth. The Lord Jesus Christ HImself and His word.

Hope this has been helpful to you.

Christy, great post! satan is not opposite of God because he is not His equal. You pointed that out very well and honestly, I had never thought that way before.

Lastdaysgirl,
As far as articles in my apartment, I keep no ouji boards or any spiritual items such as dreamcatchers, stones, etc. However there are music CD's that my husband owns. He listens to black and death metal music. I read the lyrics on a few of those CD's and it was so, so horrible that I told him I will not live here with those CD's. I opened the bible and showed him how it is wrong to own that material. He threw those out, but there are more here still.

He realizes that this music is not what God approves but I think he's having a hard time letting it go 100%. He used to listen all the time but it's becoming less and less. I thank Jesus for that because He is working with my husband to drop that music entirely. I have to respect that this is a slow process and my husband has to work this out for himself. Jesus will lead the way for him, I pray in faith for that.

He aslo owns quite a few horrible black/death metal Tshirts. Can these music CD's and Tshirts be inviting demons in? I don't allow it to be played when I am here, I simply won't listen to it. I bother him all the time about the Tshirts and buy him non-music shirts too, however I don't want to nag and drive him away.

I admit that on rare occaisions I get the creeps here, especially at night. I sometimes feel that a demon force is trying to scare me, like play games with my fear. I can't figure out if it's just my wild imagination or not. Sometimes if I think about satan I feel that I've already invited him here. When I do get these creeps, I always say "Go away in Jesus' name". That works and I recommend that to all.

It was mentioned here that satan cannot hear our thoughts. What about people who summon satan? Aren't there groups of people who actually pray to satan? Satan must hear those thoughts.

Great post thank you,

i recived a dream catcher as a gift and i hung it in my bedroom i never thought about it really ,but now i will remove it from my room, thank you again for sharing this

God Bless and much love xxxxxxx

Demon can come out of anything such as images, TV, Music, people and so on. The hold T-shirt thing has to go but there are mental Christian music out there or maybe you can find one and give to your husband for his birthday you know, so try to make worldly thing to be turn around in your house to be holy. What I would do is get rid of images that look creepy or you feel that it don’t look right to you, just get rid of those type of statues or paintings and make your home as welcoming as possible and plus put some of your blesses olive oil to anointed around your windows, doors, computer, TV, Radio and I guest that much of it  You should bleed the blood of Jesus and that it shall be cover by the blood of Jesus and that no weapon come against your house but have faith in God for your protections from the enemy but if you feel cold or smell death or empty type feelings, then that the holy spirit inside you to really sense that there is a evil spirit in your house and even anywhere you go or if you have a dog barking at something like almost all day, there might be a demon standing there and I really learn that from a pentecostal church because I know someone who had that case where her dog barking at the wall all night long for I don't how long but it was long and the church people had to come in her house and pray and cast out demon out of her house and then the dog stop barking at the wall. Hope this this something that you need, God Bless:love::love:
