A Song. A Psalm of Asaph. Do not keep silent, O God! Do not hold Your peace, And do not be still, O God! Psalm 83:1 NKJV
At the end of World War II, the following was found scrawled on the wall of a Nazi concentration camp.
I believe in the sun even when it’s not shining. I believe in love even when I don’t feel it. I believe in God even when He is silent.
For a person suffering the horrors of a concentration camp, it probably would be very easy to question where god was. Yet an anonymous believer found the inner faith to continue believing in God, even though He seemed so far away.
Today’s scripture shows you that many before have struggled during times of difficulty, when it seemed as though God wasn’t listening and wasn’t answering. It also shows you that when you’re suffering and it feels as though God doesn’t care, He still hears you as you talk to Him about your difficulties and register your complaints.
Life is truly difficult sometimes, and you may find yourself occasionally questioning whether God cares about your struggles. In turn, God invites you to come to Him and cast your cares on Him, for He truly cares about you (1 Peter 5:7).
Prayer: Father God, Your Word promises me that You desire to hear me. Remind me daily of that wondrous fact, especially during those times when You seem so far away.
