What's the worst thing you've ever done?

I think this is as good of a place as any to open up to strangers about past wrong-doings. I, myself, certainly won't judge you.


Anyway, I used to be a very angry person for some reason and I took drugs to remedy it. I've tarnished some relationships that'll never fully be repaired, but I'm so remorseful for it. I have definitely learned from my mistakes in this regard.

I'm just really fortunate that I never physically hurt anyone during this period as I thought about it a lot. It truly makes me sad to think I used to be that way. I may have found Jesus, but Jesus made it easy for me to do so. I credit him 100%. I love him so much!

Not to tread on your personal space. But God does not give us the peace and knowledge of knowing Jesus, for the reason of remembering our past failures or wrong doings.

Saying that. Yes, confess your sins to God and maybe someone you trust in God, but never just share what is between you and God.

To reiterate. I live in South Africa and heard of a television show that is currently on air. The shows plot is this: You could win lots of money, but only if you answer the questions correctly and honestly. The questions are personal and deal with many facets of a persons history, which include past sins and wrong doings. You are on a lie detector test, so if you lie, you lose.

Do you see where I'm going with this?

Not even for all the money in the world, ever, will I share with anyone, not even my wife or girlfriend, some of the things I have done. It has no value to share it with them, it won't change what I did and if I truly confessed it to God, I won't even feel slightly better confessing it to a man.

I can understand your views and respect them. I'm a little different when it comes to confessing. It liberates me to be about to confess my wrong-doings to family and friends because it gives me the humilaty I need to not do them again.

For instance, I got arrested for stealing cough gels from a grocery store. It really hurt my family and for what? Cough Gels. It's pretty embarassing and after it was done I had to tell everyone because I wanted to shame myself into not doing it again. I was punishing myself and it worked.

I'm sure this is pretty uncommon, but it helps me to talk about my sins. It's probably inappropriate though...

Hey Happy I know exactly where you're coming from I messed up my life pretty bad but I learned from it the Lord picked me right back up again and He continues too everyday. unfortunately I still suffer from a bad temper accept I deal with it differently now and I agree with you both I feel the need to confess my wrongs with others but I'm also careful of whom I share them with some people are too quick to judge also at the same time it is an amazing testamony that can reach others, help those who struggle as we once did. Hello HappySoul,I saw your question about catholics,I was one my self long ago.Yes they believe in Jesus but they do not promote salvation prayer and they have rituals and idol worship such as mother mary and dead saints!I do know however some charasmatic catholics that are totally sold out for Jesusand have given their life to him in fact I just lead one to the Lord last nt. a friend of mine for 27yrs and she weeped when she asked Jesus into her heart!Yes Baptists,and some other religions are saved but we dont want religion we want relationship with Jesus and he wants intimacy with us so you do need to find a church to grow in him pray and he will show you and I will also say a prayer for him to lead you to the right one!Welcome to talkjesus!He loves you so!Just keep your eyes on him and let him love you with an everlasting love he is your very breathe and life!God Bless and just walk in his love and light and shre your joy with everyone you know and meet!Love, sister

I went through a period in my life where I was under a sense of condemnation .
Every time I read the Bible, I saw where I had already failed in that one! Guilty, as charged!!!!
God ,knowing my heart, and lack of peace brought a simple ,but powerful message to me one day during a sermon, and it was seven words in all........"and that's what some of you were."
That set me free, for I realized for the first time, that we were all under condemnation at one time, for ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God......only when we come to Christ can we honestly say, and that's what some of you were.....Past tense, redeemed, forgotten, in the sea of his forgetfulness, and that is good enough for me.
Your sins are in the sea of his forgetfulness also, so let them stay there, he has forgotten them, we should also.
Not forgetting the love,and grace that has set us free, but no longer being in bondage to past sin.....:friends::lightbulb Free indeed

I too still harbor a temper from time to time, but like you, I handle it a lot differently than I once did. I saw a quote on here not to long ago that stated "Anger is one letter short of Danger" and that is so true. I'll carry that thought with me forever now. I mean, how many times have you got behind a vehicle completely steaming from anger? I know I have too many times. And when that happened I didn't have the best driving skills and was very reckless. I'm very fortunate that nothing bad ever resulted from it other than the shame I felt afterwards.

I have a personal question for you and you certainly don't have to answer it if you choose not to and I would completely understand. Do you ever still sin knowing that you're sinning with the thought that God will forgive you later?

I've done this...and I'm so not proud of it.

Men have spent hundreds of years confessing sins to men...and it never "liberated" them from these sins. Sure it may help give the confessor a false sense of humility, and security...but it does not, and indeed cannot, set him free. It has never helped a man, nor never will, to confess his sins to men.

There is only One [Christ] who has the power to liberate us, and He is not any of us. There is only One [Christ] we must confess to, and He is not a man. There is only One Priest [Christ] God accepts in His courts, and it is not ourselves, or some other person who has presumed to robe himself as a priest.

A mans self abasement, and religious piety, cannot replace the blood of Jesus Christ. Indeed if it could, Christ would not have had to die, for the history of the world is full of men who have practiced such, and have been none the more righteous for it. That is a fleshly robe a man seeks to cover his sins with, when he doesn`t want to discard it to put on the robe Christ has provided...
