No where in the bible does it say what happens to that treasure not one place, so we can speculate all we want but its not in scripture. But that was a nice birth present certainly!!

Jesus was born in a stable (his parents knew the approximate time of his birth so they could have reserved a place, God could have made sure he had a room) but it was a stable, as God wanted.

2 Corinthians 8:9

For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor.

Matthew 8:20
And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.”

Mark 6:8
He charged them to take nothing for their journey except a staff—no bread, no bag, no money in

Luke 18:28-30 Peter being convicted of this states, "See, we have left all and followed You."
Peter's perception was that they had no riches in money or property since he says they left it all behind. So why do some say they were wealth!

2 Cor. 6:9-10: "as unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and behold we live; as chastened, and yet not killed; as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.

Acts 3:6: Then Peter said, "Silver and gold
I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk." This does not mean they had none on them at the time; they had NO money. These are words out of their own mouths it can not get any easier then this to understand they had no earthly wealth!!

1
words right out of their own mouth describing the lifestyle, not one of wealth at all yet they were wealthy in spirit!!!
Cor. 4:11-12: "To the present hour we both hunger and thirst, and we are poorly clothed, and beaten, and homeless. And we labor, working with our own hands.

Phil. 3:7-1:1" But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead." Paul a Pharisee was quite rich yet he gave it up for a life to follow Christ

He was buried in another man's tomb, a rich mans. If he was rich or his family, they would have buried him in his own family tomb. But this again proves that He had no money for this. Neither did his family nor the apostles have the money to by such a burial, it was borrowed, actually donated to be exact. After all it would not be permanent. Jesus in his ministry had borrowed many things. A manger, He borrowed boats, He borrowed a colt; He borrowed a house for Passover and He was buried in a borrowed tomb.

Nowhere can you find a passage in the New Testament where Jesus Christ or His Apostles disciple believers to get money or be rich? Jesus Christ taught the opposite, He told the rich man to sell all that he had and give to the poor, come follow me and you will have treasure in Heaven! (Luke 18:22; 12:33-34)

Jesus actually commands us not to store up treasure here on earth,
Matthew 6:19
“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal,

So if Jesus had worldly treasures here on earth , would he not be contradicting himself??

My Lord Jesus warns all throughout the bible that worldly riches are a stumbling block for men to enter heaven, so why would he become worldly rich if all he does is warn against it, (although he could handle)

Matthew 19:24
Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.”

Luke 6:24
“But woe to you who are rich, for you have received your consolation.

the parable about the man with big barns, if Jesus wanted us to be worldly rich why did he paint such a bleak ending for this man, and all other rich people in the bible

The Parable of the Rich Fool

13Someone in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.” 14But he said to him, “Man, who made me a judge or arbitrator over you?” 15And he said to them, “Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.” 16And he told them a parable, saying, “The land of a rich man produced plentifully, 17and he thought to himself, ‘What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?’ 18And he said, ‘I will do this: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. 19And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.”’ 20But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?’ 21So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.”

Jesus had no money to pay his taxes ( I say with respect as Jesus chose not to have any money) so he sent one to fetch the money by a miracle.
Matthew 17
However, not to give offense to them, go to the sea and cast a hook and take the first fish that comes up, and when you open its mouth you will find a shekel.g Take that and give it to them for me and for yourself.”

So in conclusion, we have Peter and Paul saying in their own words they have nothing, they gave it up for Jesus, if Jesus wants us to be all rich why did he have the apostles give up everything?? the apostles or Jesus family could not even afford to buy a proper burial tomb for Jesus, Jesus is God and could have had anything he wanted for himself or his followers and he chose to lead by example a humble life, without any worldly possessions, as when they hung him on the cross he had no worldly possessions other than the clothes on his back.

The gold was not just a couple coins....but great chests of gold...(historically accurate). The Frankincense and myrrh the same..Chests the size of coffins..full.....Now imagine forty kings coming to swear allegiance and the amounts of treasure they brought...
Dave these visitors were Kings...not of the Burger King variety but kings of lands and peoples...Kings with the riches to bestow as gifts.... ETC.... LOL

This is not historically accurate. The Bible describes them as magi, not kings. We have no way of knowing how many there were, or the value of the gifts they brought.

It does seem clear though, that Jesus was not wealthy in his adult life. Dave M has given plenty of biblical evidence of that.

Wal me darlin, we could go on and on and on and still get nowhere...do you want to continue this?

To each as they have believed, so be it unto him.

Everything in this world is temporary.

Seek ye your treasures in heaven.

Nothing but truth.

Yes, He owned nothing. HE had the clothes on His back. His kingdom and riches was not of this world. Amen

I would say "Gold" was of great value back then, along with "frankincense", "myrrh". These things would not have been found at their neighborhood 7-11 store!

Mat 2:11 And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.

Jesus was NEVER poor, oh I take that back, he was poor at one time, and that was on the cross.

Isa 53:4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
Isa 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our PEACE was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

See the word, "PEACE", it means, "welfare, that is, health, prosperity, peace" When did Jesus become poor so that we would have abundant prosperity?

2Co 8:9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

Jesus became on the cross for us, but he was NEVER EVER poor himself in his earthly life!!!!!!!

On the Cross, Jesus took our poverty to provide us the riches of His grace. He became poor that we might be rich, which means abundant provision!
When did Jesus take on sin, sickness, the curse, and poverty? On the Cross! He did this so we could receive health, righteousness, blessing, and prosperity. He took the punishment
that belonged to us so that we could receive the blessings that belong to Him.

How would you like to provide food for 12 Apostles, and most likely their families to? No need to have a "treasurer" if they were poor. Poor people begged at the gates of the cities. Jesus never begged for anything, or any of his Apostles. Jesus had many "Ministry partners" covering all his costs. Sounds like a pretty good business to me.

Luk 8:1 Soon afterward Jesus began a tour of the nearby towns and villages, preaching and announcing the Good News about the Kingdom of God. He took His twelve disciples with Him,
Luk 8:2 along with some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases. Among them were Mary Magdalene, from whom He had cast out seven demons;
Luk 8:3 Joanna, the wife of Chuza, Herod's business manager; Susanna; and many others who were contributing from their own resources to support Jesus and His disciples. (NLT)

Do poor people have their own home? Did Jesus have a home?

Mat 4:12 When Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, he went back to Galilee.
Mat 4:13 He left Nazareth and made his home in Capernaum on the shores of the Sea of Galilee. This was in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali.

Mar 2:1 And when he returned to Capernaum after some days, it was reported that he was at home.

If someone does not have a home, how can it be reported that Jesus was at home?

Christ and His disciples depended entirely on the hospitality of others as they ministered from town to town. no need to beg when you are rich in spirit, when I say poor I am only taking about material things of this world. Not all poor people beg, what a terrible general statement to make. Some of th ebest people in the world are poor in earthly wealth

And yet Jesus specifically states he has not home here
but the Son of Man has no place to lay His head” (Luke 9:58
We the Church have no home here either, but I have a temporary home right now.
Jesus was constantly on the go all the time, which means he always camped out with his Apostles. Jesus did not have a summer home in every town he went, but he did have a home.

Sounds like Jesus had a job to me, and he was compensated for his labors. Jesus nor his disciples were never in need of anything, even when it came to feeding five thousand souls. Being poor is not a sign of Godliness, in fact it is part of the curse of the law, which Jesus redeemed us from.

I was stating he was not wealthy in the original post I know good and well he wanted for nothing and need nothing. Not sure where being poor is a sin. he came to bless the poor.

Perhaps we have a different definition of poor, because a few of the examples you used has nothing to do with what I meant poor. Like you saying poor people beg, I Know Jesus never begged or needed to beg.

The main thing I was saying in the original post was Jesus was not wealthy in earthly terms, he had everything he needed that I agree with you on.

Being poor is part of the "curse of the law" If Jesus redeemed us from the curse of the law, don't you think being poor is not good, and it is for sure not a blessing?

When Jesus said "blessed are the poor", it was because they were poor that they were blessed, but that they didn't have to be poor anymore!!!

I am not familiar with the curse of the law,
The curse of the law tells us what would happen to anyone who did not keep the law. It also says what would happen to anyone who kept the law perfectly. It is found in Deuteronomy chapter 28

Hey Curt I getting the feeling you think when I say poor I am insulting Jesus, so I want to make sure that you understand I am not meaning that as a insult at all.

let me see if you would agree with this, Jesus and his disciples although rich beyond measurement in eternal things, had very little in worldly possession and were very content with what they had.

but to say they were rich in worldly possessions is a lie and is used by the prosperity gospel teachers to justify there lavish lifestyles which Jesus warns us about, as a matter of fact Jesus tells us not to store up treasures he on earth, he tells us if we want to know wear someones heart is, look at wear they store up treasures, so when you see a prosperity gospel teacher that brags about being a billionaire, claiming Jesus was worldly rich, and prosperity gospel teacher has a stable of planes and cars and mansions, I think it safe to say we know wear that mans heart is.

Jesus was not lavishly rich, neither was he poor. He had everything needed to accomplish his Father will on earth. He did have enough to give to the poor as was his usual custom. The cloths he wore when he was crucified were high enough quality that the roman solders through lots to see who would get them instead of tossing them aside. The "prospierty" preachers today have taken prosperity to mean something else other than what it was intended for. Having all your needs met whether physical or spiritual for your mission on earth is prospierty. You can take any teaching from the Bible and take them to extreme which is never a good thing
