What makes us to sin?

We know that we are living in the midst of opportunities for to sin. The way that leads to sin is wide open, that ‘s what the bible tells
"You can enter God's Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. (Mathew 7:13)

There will be more chances to sin when we are idle, do not have anything to work or do not have a wish to do anything. By this time quite easily any can fall in sin. Because initially sin will enter our mind, thought…. then only it will make us to do in action.
According to bibe if anyone looks women lustfully then he commits adultery in his heart. So if we meditate any sin in our heart then it will be considered as sin.
"But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart." (Matthew 5:28)

[HIGH-LIGHT]“Each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death” (James 1:14-15).[/HIGH-LIGHT]
So by keeping our mind engaged in spiritual thing we can avoid sin and sinful thought in our life.
The God who loves you, who is always working good on your behalf doesn’t want you to fall in sin, He is always there to help you to come out of the sin. In our part we have to give way for the Lord to work in life. Then the Holy Spirit will take care of all the other things.
“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness”. (Roman 8:28)

How can we give way for the Lord to work in life?
Just by giving time to read and meditate on the word of God. “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."(John 8:32).When commit our ways totally to Lord, then He will set us completely free from all the sins and from all curses of sin.
God bless you.

I don't know if your old enough to remember a comedian, named Flip Wilson but, if you do do, you will remember one his most famous lines: "The Devil Made Me Do It, Honey!"

I can't say if there is any truth to that except, that Satan is the personification of "Sin".

We, as a human society, have mostly catergorized sin as the "Nasty Five" or the "Dirty Dozen" or what ever.

Sins like stealing, rape, murder, incest and others as being the "biggies" and something like the "Little White Lie" being something like, well...maybe that's not even a sin.

My point is that we usually look at sin through "rose colored" glasses and we want to classify sin for ourselves. Though we don't do a very good job of upholding them, we even pass laws to control some of them.
For the most part, we pass laws for secular or political reasons and never consider God and His will.

And God's will and perfection and our imperfection is what creates sin.

Anything that we do that is contrary to God's will and perfection is a sin on our part. We are born sinful.
As an example, who can say that they don't have some form of doubt, insecurity, negative thoughts and such in their lives.
That's imposiible, all humans do.

Many will disagree but, I say that we can't go , 24/7, with out sinning!

As a Christian we shouldn't beat ourselves up over this, we should be saying, "Thanks be to God for His saving grace in His Son Jesus Christ.

Your right John whe you said:
Just by giving time to read and meditate on the word of God. “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."(John 8:32).

Here is a truth that sets us free, Jesus said (parahrasing): " I am the vine and you are the branches, if you are in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit, without me you can do nothing".

Yes, there are many things that we can do to prevent sin in our lives and we should, but when we fall short, thanks be to God for His Spirit that dwells inside us and that He will remember our sin no more!

The world the flesh and the devil, scripturally the devil is in last place.
The world draws the fleshly man and he needs little help form Satan.

Gal 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
Gal 5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
Gal 5:18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
Gal 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Gal 5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Gal 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Gal 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Gal 5:24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
Gal 5:25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Every step we take walking in the Spirit (in complete submission to and following His lead) is sinless but every step taken in our own fleshly (good or bad) is by nature sinful.
It was the tree of the knowledge of good and evil (following his own thoughts and will) that caused Adam to be separated from God and we see no such action performed by Jesus (our perfect example).

The Devil

I often ask myself the question, "What makes us to sin?"

When pondering this question, i cannot think about how vital the answer is. The devil makes us sin through trickery. through lies.

Our only hope is JESUS.

Thank you Joe Johnston & Boanerges for helping me to identify where I am wrong[/QUOTE..

Don't be harsh on yourself.
I don't see anything particularly wrong with your thoughts, besides you started the post for a reason and it is a good post, something we need to talk about more often.

You weren't wrong when you pointed out important truths about sin, which some are below:
  • the Spirit helps us in our weakness”. (Roman 8:28)
  • So by keeping our mind engaged in spiritual thing we can avoid sin and sinful thought in our life.
  • Just by giving time to read and meditate on the word of God. “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."(John 8:32).When commit our ways totally to Lord, then He will set us completely free from all the sins and from all curses of sin.
Great post, I hope that many continue commenting on it!

John my friend, Like Joe I was just offering a different view. I appreciate you, your love for the Word and the truth it contains.

this is very true that sin starts in the mind.
I think it is part of our sinful nature to want to do things our own way.
