One of the prerequisite to being born again and given Eternal Life through faith is the person must first die.
1Co 15:36 You fool! The seed you plant doesn't come to life unless it dies first.
Jesus came to earth to plant Righteous eternal seed into the hearts of those that will believe. In the process of the born again experience the person being born again “must die" to the old nature before he or she can come alive to the new nature in Christ.
