As i was reading through the word of God yesterday with a friend, a passage really jumped off of the pages of the Bible at me. The passage really put joy and conviction into my heart. As we read i was encouraged by the awesome message that the Lord was opening up to us. But as we read it further the Lord showed me where the passages through out the Bible that are like thise are never read or discussed within the churches of today.
This very factual point hurt my heart dear, as the message is one that we all need to see and hear to bring us closer to our Lord Jesus Christ. However it is not a popular reading or teaching if taught for us today. This is a problem because if it is taught in the world of Christianity today, it is taught as a history of what wa written to Israel in their time of rejecting and turning away from the Lord to false gods and idols.
Why would this be important in todays world? This is a question that many will ask. The answer is that our God is never changing. He is not going to give every nation in the world a chance to accept him and then allow them to live and have idols against Him. So they as with Israel in the old testament of Gods chastising us is still the same as it was back in those days.
How does this apply to America? This very much applies to a nation that claims it was founded upon the Lord Jesus Christ and His teachings. A nation that has been blessed more than abundantly by God, yet we have taken advantage of the abundance that God has allowed us to have. We have used it to gain worldly power, take advantage of those that do not have. This nation has shed innocent blood in the name of money and worldly power. the funds within our nation have been used in ways that are ungodly. The out pouring of money that is used every year for what we call freedom rather than sin.
How much of what God has given has gone toward the wicked things of this world? quite a bit i sadly inform all the nation. Abortion clinics, pornography, entertainment that teaches nothing etc... The list could go on forever. We claim this nation to be a Godly nation. why? Because we have a lot of things? Because we have churches that are not bothered here? Because Christians do not face hard persecution? Because we have a government that claims that we have religious freedom?
Lets stop and look at some of these. We have freedom as long as someone is telling us how to worship. We are free as long we follow a man made agenda. We are free if wgo through the government. Our rights to worship Christ here in America is slowly dwindling away. Our nation has turned to look at other gods and idols for comfort and joy. The sad thing this is about 89% of those that claim Christ as their Lord and Savior.
Why is this nation so far from God. because the following passages are taught as history rather than the living word of a living God.
Lamentations 3:42-47
42- WE HAVE TRANSGRESSED AND HAVE REBELLED: THOU HAST NOT PARDONED.
43- THOU HAST COVERED WITH ANGER, AND PERSECUTED US:THOU HAST SLAIN, THOU HAST NOT PITIED.
44- THOU HAST COVERED THYSELF WITH A CLOUD, THAT OUR PRAYER SHALL NOT PASS THROUGH.
45- THOU HAST MADE US AS THE OFFSCOURING AND REFUSE IN THE MIDST OF THE PEOPLE .
46- ALL OUR ENEMIES HAVE OPENED THEIR MOUTHS AGAINST US.
47- FEAR AND A SNARE IS COME UPON US, DESOLATION AND DESTRUCTION.
This is the very same thing that we are seeing throughout the United States right now. We are losing our jobs. we are also losing our nation as a whole. Yet we refuse to tell the people in our synagogues the truth of sin and god wrath. None of us like to hear that we are sinners. But if we cant recognize that we are sinners then we are lost already. The gospel has never been about fame and fortune and it is not today either.
We can go on claiming christ and preaching money while we are doing it. Or we get real with Christ and see what truly changes in this nation for the real of the gospel. Peace is never guaranteed for folloiwing Christ with other people or the world. But salvation for eternity always has been it our choice though.
