Isaiah said to them, "Say to your master, 'Thus says the LORD: Do not be afraid because of the words that you have heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have reviled me. Behold, I will put a spirit in him, so that he shall hear a rumor and return to his own land, and I will make him fall by the sword in his own land.'" 2 Kings 19:6-7 ESV
Who do you listen to when you make your decisions and live by faith? Do you listen to those in power who overestimate their influence? Do you focus on those who predict doom and despair? Isaiah reminds the king to spend more time focusing on what God is capable of doing. But can you blame the king for being afraid?
Whether you are facing steep odds or fear the worst in a situation, take time to consider how God is with you throughout your challenges. There’s no guarantee that you’ll get what you hope for, but if you trust in God’s loving presence, you will know God’s comfort.
Rather than looking at everything that could go wrong, offer your future to God with open hands, allowing Him to work toward your best interests. Over time, you may find that He has been with you all along guiding and directing your steps.
Prayer: Lord, I trust that You are able to guide and direct my steps in fearful and uncertain times.
