Romans 3:1-9

GOD'S RIGHTEOUSNESS UPHELD

1 What advantage then has the Jew, or what is the profit of circumcision? 2 Much in every way! Chiefly because a to them were committed the 1 oracles of God. 3 For what if b some did not believe? c Will their unbelief make the faithfulness of God without effect?
4 d Certainly not! Indeed, let e God be 2 true but f every man a liar. As it is written:
g "That You may be justified in Your words,
And may overcome when You are judged." 3

5 But if our unrighteousness demonstrates the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unjust who inflicts wrath? h (I speak as a man.) 6 Certainly not! For then i how will God judge the world? 7 For if the truth of God has increased through my lie to His glory, why am I also still judged as a sinner? 8 And why not say, j "Let us do evil that good may come"? - as we are slanderously reported and as some affirm that we say. Their 4 condemnation is just.

NO ONE IS RIGHTEOUS

9 What then? Are we better than they? Not at all. For we have previously charged both Jews and Greeks that k they are all under sin.

John Gill's Exposition // Romans 3:4

Let no such thing ever enter into the minds of any, that the truth of God can be, or will be made of none effect by the want of faith in man; let it be always asserted and abode by; that God is true, faithful to his word, constant in his promises, and will always fulfil his purposes; though "every man is a liar", vain, fallacious, and inconstant: referring to ( Psalms 116:11 ) ;

Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary // v.1-8

The law could not save in or from sins, yet it gave the Jews advantages for obtaining salvation. Their stated ordinances, education in the knowledge of the true God and his service, and many favours shown to the children of Abraham, all were means of grace, and doubtless were made useful to the conversion of many. But especially the Scriptures were committed to them. Enjoyment of God's word and ordinances, is the chief happiness of a people. But God's promises are made only to believers; therefore the unbelief of some, or of many professors, cannot make this faithfulness of no effect. He will fulfil his promises to his people, and bring his threatened vengeance upon unbelievers. God's judging the world, should for ever silence all doubtings and reflections upon his justice. The wickedness and obstinate unbelief of the Jews, proved man's need of the righteousness of God by faith, and also his justice in punishing for sin. Let us do evil, that good may come, is oftener in the heart than in the mouth of sinners; for few thus justify themselves in their wicked ways. The believer knows that duty belongs to him, and events to God; and that he must not commit any sin, or speak one falsehood, upon the hope, or even assurance, that God may thereby glorify himself. If any speak and act thus, their condemnation is just.

I believe in the flesh . None of us have 100% perfect truth. So none of us can ever say we know all the answers. We tell stuff we do not fully understand. Yet we think at the time we are correct.

That why we need the LORD and His body . God reveals certain trues to each of us to share. The body it self is perfect. But only when together.
In our spirit we are perfect and in perfect unity. In our flesh thinking we are not in prefect unity.
Our Spirit is in Christ Jesus . Our flesh is not.

Good we should share and bless each other . That what the Body of CHRIST JESUS should do. Lift up others . Bless others ,help others. That what LOVE does. Love a giver. We see it very clear in the life of our LORD JESUS .

This verse is an excellent sharp sword that I use in the heat of battle.
If my feelings disagree with God's word then my feelings are a liar.
If my thoughts disagree with the word of God then my thoughts are a liar(s).

If I feel weak then let the weak say "I am strong".
If I feel poor then let the poor say "I am rich".
If my mind say's "you can't pay the bills this month" and God's word say's
"he shall supply all my needs through his riches in glory" then I have to decide which is the truth.
If the doctor says I have an incurable disease and God's word says"by his stripes we were healed" then I must choose which is truth.
That which is true today may not be true tomorrow but truth is alive and eternal.

Our carnal mind will always oppose the Spirit of truth,because it likes formulas to operate by because it craves control.

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

The truth is a person and the truth shall set you free.

A number of years ago a man of God quoting the scripture in the title of this thread said that he, the minister speaking, was a liar. He said that not only all men and but ministers to the extent that they were wrong in anything were liars.

Is this not so for all of us? We will agree that Jesus never lied. We will surely also agree that all of us have during the course of our natural lifetimes have lied. What we must find, I believe, is an understanding that if any of our beliefs are wrong and we are currently confessing that they are right, we are still liars.

So what must we do? We must love the truth even when we don't know all of it. To do otherwise is likely to bring us into delusion, where we will not even know that we sometimes lying:

And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
II Thess 2:10-11

Every man being a liar means every man and everything they do apart from God is vanity:
Ecc 1:14 I have seen everything that is done under the sun, and behold, all is vanity and a striving after wind.

God being true means that God is the truth or the reality. God is the one who is real and true. This is because God is the only one who is Eternal Life.

All idols are false and dead substitutes for the true and living God. A person without God is their own idol.

A man being a liar is a man who lives their whole pursuing a false and dead idol eg (having successful career), only to lose it all when they die.

Matt 16:26 What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?

I believe you nailed it.
In him we live and move and have our being so he is reality.
So maybe we are his thoughts,his dream which he conquered and is bringing into his reality.
What we think is reality may be no more than a dream world of illusion that
man got lost in.
Perhaps miracles are nothing more than reality or truth invading our rebellious imagination.
Jesus walked through walls and I have done that in dreams because I knew it was a dream.

2 Corinthians 10:4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;
2 Corinthians 10:5 Casting down arguments, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

I wonder if my brain would get upset if I saw someone walk through a wall?

Well context was to do with the law and righteousness, but I think in the general sense we are "lies" and God is "real". We and all the physical world are really shadows.

We are not righteous in ourselves because apart from God we are not "real".

Yes in one sense miracles are things not yet understood. An aeroplane, people flying, is a miracle for someone living even 200 years ago.

Even death is not real to God:
Luke 20:38 He is not a God of dead, but of living men, for to Him are all living.
Maybe this is why the bible often calls death, "sleep".
