What does it mean to be saved?

The point that matters because of my original post:

Being baptized gets no one saved. I am saved because I believed on Jesus Christ with all my heart and soul and mind and because I confessed it to Him with my mouth, and anyone else in the world can do just the same. Thank you. That is the point of my original post here, not to slander words back and forth and try to "outsmart" each other.

And I am not correct, I only tell what God has shown me.
Without Him I would know nothing. Thank you, Father God.

Dear Z:

I truly did not mean to offend you. I would ask that you reread my two posts to see that I am stating the very fact that you are...that baptism doesn't save anyone. I was simply responding to the response from brakelite. It was never my intent to slander anyone or try to outsmart anyone. I have friends that disagree with me on the doctrine of baptism, and we have had numerous discussions on the subject and they have never accused me of doing either of the aforementioned activities. I can say in all honesty that I learn something from every conversation that I enter into when it comes to discussing spiritual issues. Not that I mean that I am swayed from standing firm on the essentials but that sometimes it is okay to have a difference of opinion on the nonessential things, and we can even still respect one another. The bottom line is that our core belief system needs to align with the Scripture. What better way to make sure it does than to listen to/read how others interpret Scripture passages? Isn't this, in essence, what you are doing when you read books about Christianity? Again, I am truly sorry if my words offended you.

Baptism is a sign of submission to God, not "required" for salvation.

Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

believe + baptism = saved
believe + no baptism = not saved !

I am not aware of any scripture that explicitly says that Jesus came to save us from condemnation. While I am not suggesting that that isn't the result, I am suggesting that our freedom from condemnation is a result of what Jesus came to save us from, and that is our sins.
It is our sin that condemns us. When Jesus sets us free from sin, then there is no condemnation. He died that the power of sin over us may be broken, and He rose again to empower us to live holy lives. It is a life free from sin that rejoices in freedom from condemnation. It is a life free from sin, that is transgression against the laws of God, that has eternal life to look forward to.
Romans 6:15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.
20 For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.
21 What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.
22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
23For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus.

Just want to clarify that the phrase "free from sin" does not mean that we are then unable to sin anymore. It is the freedom of us from the slavery of sin, therefore the next part (both in verse 18 and 22) refers to being enslaved (or become a servant) of God (righteousness in verse 18).

Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

It says he that "believeth not shall be damned" not he that isnt babtised , bro

He that believes and is baptised shall be saved. It doesn't say, he that believes shall be saved.

Yes but the emphasis seems to be on the believe. And remember the thief on the cross got saved too without babtism.

if people where spirit filled in acts and not yet babtised would say they werent saved yet?

Baptism by what?
Water? that's a physical act, how can that be a requirement for a salvation of the soul, which is not physical?

Remember this verse in Acts 11:
“And I remembered the word of the Lord, how He used to say, John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.'

And also this verse in 1 Corinthians 12:13:
For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.

One can be baptized by water by following the crowd, but if the person's heart does not believe, what good does it do?

No, that post was to Brakelite or whatever, not you. hehe sorry.

Salvation: What makes us saved?

I have added to the original post:

John 3:17
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

John 10:9
I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

Acts 4:10-12
Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.

This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Acts 16:30-31
And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

Romans 5:9-10
Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

Romans 10:9
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Ephesians 2:8
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Timothy 1:9
Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

Titus 3:5
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

You say, “But what about works? We have to have works! God will not save someone who knows the truth but doesn't follow it!”

Romans 3:27
Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.

Romans 4:5
But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

Romans 4:2
For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.

Romans 9:31-33
But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.

Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;

As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

Romans 11:6
And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

Galatians 2:16
Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Galatians 3:1-3
O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?

This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

Ephesians 2:8-10
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Not of works, lest any man should boast.

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

You say, "But what about Mark 16:16? Jesus said, "he that believeth and is baptized shall be saved" So we have to be baptized!

Matthew 20:22-23
But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able.

And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father.

Mark 1:8
I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.

Mark 10:38-39
But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?

And they said unto him, We can. And Jesus said unto them, Ye shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized:

Acts 1:5
For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

Acts 11:16
Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.

Acts 18:8
And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized.

Acts 19:4
Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.

You say, "But we MUST repent! We have to repent and/or turn from our sinful ways/our sins to be saved!"

Matthew 3:11
I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

Matthew 9:13
But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Luke 3:8
Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

Acts 5:31
Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

2 Corinthians 7:9-10
Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing.

For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

LOOK AT THIS!!
Genesis 6:5-7
And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.

Hold on a second... our LORD repented!? Repent means to SORROW people, not turn from sin.

So there you go.
The bible clearly states how to be saved, thanks to God for preserving His word as He promised.

AMP
1Pe 3:21 And baptism, which is a figure [of their deliverance], does now also save you [from inward questionings and fears], not by the removing of outward body filth [bathing], but by [providing you with] the answer of a good and clear conscience (inward cleanness and peace) before God [because you are demonstrating what you believe to be yours] through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

That bible, AMP, never heard of it, but I can tell you it's the devil's work, throw it away.
Inspired word of God no flaws at all KJV:

If you read the bible, you see in
Mark 1:8
I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.
Ooooooooooooh... and we all know "he" is Jesus. :)

The thief on the cross was saved under the Mosaic Law. After Jesus rose again, the rules changed.

God never changes. Salvation has infact always been same, by Grace. Never by any other rule than grace. And do you even know he was a jew? maybe some foreing like a roman.
And what does being under mosaic law have to do with anything anyway

Bible states no one becomes righteuss by the works of the law. They all needed grace to be saved.

Nor does it state any where in bible that any rules would change not even the law has only that we are not under the law. Still all the same rules except were pardoned.

And again God never changes.
