What does "Amen" mean???

I am unsure what amen means, I always say it after I pray with God, but without really realizing what it means. I was not brought up in the Church, and apologize to anyone who is offended by my lack of knowledge, I really appreciate anyone who can give me an accurate answer.

The word Amen (pronounced /ˌɑːˈmɛn/ or /ˌeɪˈmɛn/; Hebrew: אָמֵן, Modern Amen Tiberian ’Amen ; Arabic: آمين‎, ’Āmīn ; "So be it; truly") is a declaration of affirmation[1][2] found in the Hebrew Bible and New Testament. To add to this, we need to be careful when we say Amen.

Otherwise if you bless in the spirit only, how will the one who fills the place of the ungifted say the "Amen" at your giving of thanks, since he does not know what you are saying?

We need to understand what is being said as well as be in agreement with it before we are to say Amen. Otherwise, we should remain silent.
