Give me the wisdom and knowledge to lead them properly, for who could possibly govern this great people of yours?" 2 Chronicles 1:10 NLT
After Solomon took control of his kingdom, he called together the leaders of Israel, and they gathered in front of the tabernacle of the Lord to consult Him. That night, God appeared to Solomon and said, “What do you want? Ask, and I will give it to you!” (2 Chronicles 1:7). Solomon could’ve asked for riches or fame, but he asked for wisdom and knowledge to lead God’s people properly.
God responded by giving him not only what he asked for but also riches and fame such as no other king before or after him ever received.
If God asked you what you wanted, what would your answer reveal about your faith in Him? Would it show commitment and humility, like Solomon exhibited? Or would it show that your heart is far from God? Even if it’s the latter, you desire to love and serve Him. That’s why you’re meeting with Him this morning. Pray a prayer similar to the one Solomon prayed and eagerly expect an answer.
Prayer: Father, my devotion to You is sometimes lacking But I pray that You would give me the wisdom and knowledge to lead my family properly, for You have graciously given them to me to lead and guid them for Your Glory.
