What do people go to Hell for?

Recently, the Christian organization I work for has declared that people do not go to Hell because of the sins they commit, but they go to Hell because of autonomy (rejection of Jesus Christ). I do not think it is one or the other, but both. I guess the question to ask is what did Jesus Christ die on the cross for? Did he die so that our sins can be forgiven and we can be set free of them or did he die so that we don't live autonomous lives away from Him. I cannot get around the verses that talk about people not inheriting the kingdom of Heaven because they've lived a life of habitual sin and have never repented of it. Some of these verses are: 1 Corinthians 6:9-11, "Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God.Some of you were once like that. But you were cleansed; you were made holy; you were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God" Revelation 21:27, "Nothing evil will be allowed to enter, nor anyone who practices shameful idolatry and dishonesty—but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life." Revelation 22:15, "Outside the city are the dogs—the sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idol worshipers, and all who love to live a lie." I don't see anywhere in these verses that supports the idea that people do not inherit the kingdom of God because of just autonomy. I believe that that people who live a life devoted and committed to sin which includes living a life separate from God will not inherit the kingdom of God, but I do not believe that it is one or the other. In saying this, it doesn't mean that we as Christians are condemned because we still continue to sin. We are not condemned and we are free from sin because Jesus Christ has died so that we can be forgiven of our sins and we can be free from the enslavement that it brings. For Romans 8:1 says, "So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus." Thoughts!

Interesting, I suppose you can say both.
With out the spilling of blood ( or death) there is no forgiveness of sins.
Jesus was the final atonement, his blood and death not only covered over our sins as the priests of old but, took them away from the sight of God for ever. God justifies us, just as if we had never sinned.
God sanctifies us, separates us and sets us apart from others, the same as separating the sheep from the goats or the wheat from the tares; he gives us autonomy from others by placing the Holy Spirit in us who believe, so yes, there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ.
On the other hand, those separated from us are apostates, non-believers, the unrighteous, ect. . Because of their non-belief, I guess you could classify them as an autonomous group that do not have Christ in them.
The key here is the process of separation that Jesus Christ will do....believers on the right and non-believers of the left! Those on the left go to ...., we'll it is not going to be nice to be somewhere for all eternity and live autonomously separated from God forever!

Autonomy is defined as existing separately from others. Being independent to the max sets one up to be a victim of the devil's wiles. He feasts on people who think independence is a good thing.
