What died in the garden?

I started out studing what man lost in the garden and with that one question I came up with ten more...

If man was created in the image of God does this mean his nature? If so His nature is spirit, right?

A spirit never dies! Angels, human, demons..etc.

So was Adam an Eve created to live forever..Body, Soul and Spirit?

What actually died?:helppc:

I have many more questions about this....But I did not want to throw them all out there. If anyone can shed some light on this I will be so:handshake: thankful!!

Adam died a physical death - Adam was not immortal as that would be a contradiction.

1 Corinthians 15:54:So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

Immortal cannot become mortal.

Adam lived upwards to 930 years.

Genesis 5:5:And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died.

Man became a living soul

Genesis 2:7:And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Breath in Strong's Hebrew is = 5397 nshamah nesh-aw-maw' from 5395; a puff, i.e. wind, angry or vital breath, divine inspiration, intellect. or (concretely) an animal:--blast, (that) breath(-eth), inspiration, soul, spirit.

The soul does not go to Heaven - some Churches may try to ''win souls''
But that is false as the soul makes up the person as prior to Adam been a living soul he was a dead soul.

Ecclesiastes 12:7:Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

When man dies, his body returns to dust i.e the soul dies and the Spirit returns to God.

Genesis 3:19 ''for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return''

...so in conclusion -what died was Adam - the physical death,by that I mean..

Adam did not die straight away, like I posted he lived upwards to 930 years, but eventually died a physical death at some later date....

The flesh, (body) is temporary. The soul is eternal. There are many verses about eternal life.
There are also many verses about existing in hell after "death" (the physical death of the flesh/body).
Some Bible use the term "second death". Then it goes on to describe the torment that souls will suffer in hell. Some people take this to mean that only (Christian/believers) have an eternal soul. The Bible doesn't teach this.

You say ''The soul is eternal''

How so?

If man dies - the soul dies. The soul does not live on.

The soul makes up the person.

Genesis 2:7:And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

How does the soul go on living if Man dies?

The soul became the man,it is what makes up a man.
When the soul dies or when man dies the soul dies.
Before Adam became a living soul he was a dead soul.

Genesis 2:7:And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

The breath of life.

When man dies, the soul dies and the Spirit returns to God.

Ecclesiastes 3:19:For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity.

Ecclesiastes 12:7:Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

Man has soul(as it makes up the person) and Spirit. The soul does not return to God - The Spirit returns to God.
