What Denomination?

Sorry bothers and sisters in Christ,
I have a correction to make, the big church were I visited a few times is Pentecostal, it does not have it above the church only Whitewell Metropolitan Tabernacle is visable.

Now I think about it I should have known, as I did attend a smaller church which is connected to it.

As I said though I don't go particularly looking for denominations on churches.

oh my goodness you all maureen made a mistake i think we are to burn her at the stake and steal her property from her. lol just kidding. but thank you for letting us know.

there is nothing wrong with having a group to fellowship with. but the people we fellowship with we need to know that they are saved. not perfect but saved and want to save others through jesus christ not through a church or a group or anything like that. spirit1st i love your testimonies and that you accepted the strength that christ gave you and did the right thing.

i go to a church which is a baptist but personally i think who cares about denominations. when we go to heaven we wont be separated into our denominations. yeah they have different teachings but we all think differently about certain things its not just the denominations.

lou xx

ushalk I would gladly go to the stake for my Lord
look what he did for me and you and many more of us, wouldn't
we gladly give our all for Him.

Would mean a quicker passage to heaven.

demoninations

Cody, explain the Baptist Faith and Message. Is that used in addition to the Bible or is the Bible the one standard for that demonination? I am confused??

Church is good as long as they preach Jesus Christ and the cross!

We follow only HIM, Led by the HOLY GHOST.

All churches are man made, none will be here in the end!
There is but , one true church ,which is of , New spiritual beings, which have been BORN OF GOD!.

I love going to church. I think anywhere , where they preach JESUS CHRIST and the CROSS!.
He MUST be the key to worship and HIm to lead each of us . or we should not fellowship there?

THIS is a little of what I know as TRUTH, And know it is the correct understanding. But, we will not see it, unless the HOLY GHOST reveals it to us!

All Scripture is 100% true! the Correct understanding, MUST come from the HOLY GHOST!

1Co 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

Of course I believe we have the fruits of the HOLY GHOST at our new birth as well as HIS mind and nature in our spirit!

The trouble is? We do not walk and live in our spirit to any great degree normally!
So we are led a lot by our flesh instead of our inward man!

The inward man, would NEVER fail our LORD! the outward man will always!

Gal 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

Gal 5:25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

We walk and live in our own spirit ,not HIS. we are real new creatures , if BORN of GOD!

Rom 1:9 For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son

Heb 12:9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?

Rom 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

Gal 6:18 Brethren, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.

Phm 1:25 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.

Rom 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

1Co 14:2 For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.

Co 14:14 For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.

Here lies our problem to some degree?
The outward mind is in control ,unless we walk and live in our spirit!

This scripture teaches us this great truth !

Co 14:32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.

THIS is the true us in our Spirit, ONCE truly Born of GOD!

Rom 7:22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:

2Co 4:16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

2Co 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Eph 4:24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Col 3:10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

THIS scripture is 100% TRUTh, AS HE makes ALL things we SEE , 100% NEW .It is a 100% new beginning for mankind .

2Co 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Nothing we see with our natural eyes will be here after all is said and done!

Rom 4:8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

Jas 2:12 So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.

NOTHING in the flesh is held against Any child of GOD. We are living a Spiritual type life though this weak flesh!

God is NOW dealing with MANKIND in the eternal first!

Natural man is under the law. which kills all.

We are under eternal laws which were before mankind .
LOVE, truth , Faith.

These LAWS were always in affect, the angels live by them , as well as every heavenly creature , which we are counted as they are NOW!

Col 1:13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

We are counted there NOW, in our Spirit!
We re not any part of this world. Except trapped in flesh ,that is part of thios planet. which will return to the ground of this world. We do not.We go HOME!

Joh 18:36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world:

Joh 17:16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

There's 2 types of churches, true and false, no in-between. I would advise finding a church where first and foremost the bible is preached fully, none of this new age liberal grace gospel you see so much these days, where the pastor is a 23 year old kid with tattoos and piercings all over, or where the pastor is a female. Secondly the church must have active outreach ministries and missionary ministries so you know your money isn't all going to the pastor's mortgage payment. Thirdly I believe the church should exercise the gifts of the spirit such as speaking in tongues and interpretation of tongues.

There is much controversy about christian denominations. On what kind of church we should attend. I mean I grew up in a non-denominational church. And I've been going to one ever since I like it . Even though now I'm looking for a new church home I still love it.

Could you guys let me know what denomation you're under or what church.I feel to a certian point as long as it's teaching what's right. And by the bible it does'nt matter.

But there are differences in some christian churches. What do you guys feel about non-denominational churches and other denominations? Is it right for people to say this is the right and only one?

I go to a Protestant Church. The best church to go to is any Church which is Christ centered, filled with the Holy Spirit and walking truely in their way of following Christ.

We will be able to find a 100% real atmosphere in Heaven, because here on earth, humans tend to make mistakes. Every human has weaknesses, but in heaven, it will be entirely different.

God bless you.

My Dad while alive came from a 'Brethren' background, I went with him up until he died, 2 years ago, it was very much a Bible believing/preaching church, truly grounded in the true gospel.

My friend goes to a 'Baptist' church, like the one you speak of.
Her church too is the same, very much a Biblically preaching church, both churches having 'outreaches' for the lost of our land, and Missionary work on going.

I have also experience 'Anglican' church, not like these other two mentioned, not at all, they are more set on 'Creed's, Traditions' not preaching hell, running classes for keep fit, and line dances, even selling tickets for a night out in a bar, all to raise funds, but raising them wrongly.

I came out of this church, even though my Mum sent me as a child to Sunday School there, they water down the great Gospel message.
I am still thank full of my Sunday School days there though, they did teach me who Jesus was, so I always had that knowledge of God all through my life, just I chose to ignore Him, a wayward sheep out of the fold, gone astray, until He touched me and put me on His shoulders and returned me to the fold. Thank you Lord.

I attend an Evangelical church, being the Good News, they do all of what the first two do, reach the lost, Missionary work, in a very big way.
Preach the true undiluted Gospel, and Hell.

It's as Thatguy said, in his post, Amen to all you said.

I also agree lou_lou1345 who does care about demoninations I certainly don't, so long at the church is preahing what it should be, Jesus Christ and His Gospel, we all are the body, therefore the Church of God, built by Jesus Christ Amen.

Here are the main things I believe as a Independent Bible Believing Baptist.

1. The Bible is God inspired and preserved in the King James Bible.
(2 Timothy 3:16,Psalm 12:6,7)

2. There is only one true God. God is a Trinity consisting of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. All equal, yet distinct.
(1 John 5:7)

3. Jesus Christ lived a sinless life, His death was for sinners, He was buried and rose again on the third day.
(1 Corinthians 5:21,Romans 5:8,Luke 24:46)

4. Salvation is by Grace alone.
(Ephesians 2:9)

5. Eternal Salvation
(John 10:28,Ephesians 4:30,1 Peter 1:5)

6. Heaven and Hell are real.
(Revelation 21:4,Revelation 20:10)

7. The church will be "caught up" before the seven year tribulation begins. At the end of the tribulation, Jesus Christ will return to the earth and will reign for one thousand years.
(1 Thessalonians 4:17, Revelation 20:4)

I want ot throw in my two cents the Holy Spirit is leading me here.

Religion is man-made plain and simple..... My desire is to see the body of believers come back to the way church was in Acts. We sit in a pew for an hour and then go home... I have church everytime I go into the jails every week. To me that is church.....

How do we get to know anyone looking at the back of someone's head for an hour?

I believe we will go through some of the tribulation, I used to believe in the rapture. But, I do not argue it, it is not salvation. Salvation is the cross and He is risen....

Blessings,
debbi

personally i do not believe there is a such thing as denominations. not saying that any are wrong or right. i feel the most important thing is knowing that whoever you are fellowshipping with are saved and know the word of god for what it says.

I agree with you completely on this ushalk, denominations of churches really doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I was raised catholic, but it was the church of my parent's choice, i never knew what it actually meant to follow Christ. I didn't know that it was a relationship that he wanted with his children. I realized that a few years ago that He loved me for me, not for who i wasn't.

I don't need any labels. Not Baptist, Catholic, Mormon, Pentecostal, Methodist, etc. The only label I hold is Christian. That's it. I think the whole denominations labeling is just stupidity at its greatest form and quite frankly, not Christ like at all. There is one body. Why are there many denominations? Pride. Lack of giving the Holy Spirit the full 100% of yourself to guide you instead of walking your own path. Thousands years go by and we have all these ridiculous denominations.

There is One Jesus. One body of Christ. One Holy Bible. That's it.

eThe Lord drew me out of the Catholic Church 20+ years ago and planted me in a non-denominational organization of churches where the focus is totally on Jesus and on doing the works of the Kingdom.

The first sentence of our mission statement says it all: The xxxxxxxxx Church exists solely for the purpose of drawing large numbers of people into relationship with Jesus Christ. I believe that the Holy Spirit is grieved when we as individuals or as corporate church bodies push that aside and fall into denominational squabbling and finger pointing.

I think it's really odd when the first thing a Christian asks you is 'which 'church' do you belong, I've been asked this, and my reply is as I've stated, The Church of God, built by Jesus Christ.

I to have dropped the 'denomination', they say you 'belong' to were you were baptised as a baby, nonsense, was I as a baby able to know that? or would I have wanted it that way. We are the Body.

It's not even Biblical as many things they teach aren't. We are the Body.
still some today are still living in those very times, they've not moved on.
Because they are still stuck in the 'denomination' theory.
Now there are so many of these smaller churches who have come away from the mainstream church of their denomination.
To get back to 'basics' ground roots, true gospel, but they still go under a denominational name, calling it 'Independant, or Free or whatever else.

I give them credit to the preaching of the true gospel, but wouldn't it be best to come away and be non-denominational.

I don't think that it is considered a "label". I am a Baptist, because that is what denomination the church I belong to is. And I like how we believe(by the Bible)

I think as long as the "label" one is placed under follows the Word of God, and they feel truly at home at that church it is alright to be "labeled".

I am of the Christianity faith, and i think that that is all that matters. (Given the facts one obeys the Bible)

As long as one lives for the Lord truly and sincerely its OK(in my opinion):thumbs_up

God Bless

Brother Michael
I hear your sincerity, and I am not doubting you at all.

I don't dislike 'denominations' I'm just stating I don't want to be a part of them.

I attended the Brethren church with my Dad for over a year before he died, but still if anyone had've asked were I belonged my answer would still be as it is today, Church of God, built by Jesus Christ.

I have been to C.O.I. and Independant Methodist, but I still will not 'denominate' myself.

But I have no gripe with anyone who wishes too.
They are great Bible believing and preaching churches, Baptist, Brethren, Indep.Methodist, it's just my own personal choice not to name myself as belonging to a 'church' as such, but the body of Christ.

I find denominations confusing, I thought all God's Church's were linked together thro Jesus Christ. :embarasse
