What are the seven deadly sins?

There are no 7 deadly sins. That's just the world's interpretation that there are categories of sin. Sin is all in the same category. A lot of phony things float around this world about the Word of God. You ever watch the "10 Commandments?" If so you remember that scene where that blind Israelite is asking the boy what was going on? That scene never happened. There were no lame people leaving Egypt. But that's how Hollywood interprets the Bible.

In the hew Covenant, all sins are deadly if you die with out being saved or "Born Again". Obviously, the only sin that is truly deadly, is the rejection of Jesus Christ or the Holy Spirit.

yes there is 7 sins that god hates .
chad did a thread on it, check it out it good

I don't need to "Check it out". I am sorry what you may think but sin is sin to God. If you can avoid your "7 deadly sins" but have not been saved yet, then you will die in your sin. It is impossible for man to avoid all sin 24/7 for ever. When you commit "one little" sin and you will, whether it is one of your 7 or not, you will die spiritually if you are not saved by Grace. God hates all sin and there is plenty more of them than just 7 and they all will kill you!

Proverbs 6:16-25

16 There are six things the LORD hates,
seven that are detestable to him:
17 haughty eyes,
a lying tongue,
hands that shed innocent blood,
18 a heart that devises wicked schemes,
feet that are quick to rush into evil,
19 a false witness who pours out lies
and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.

Yes, valuable things to know and avoid for sure, but has nothing to do with Grace and the New Testament.
I will refer to my thread on 12-31-10, In the New Covenant. "Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit" is the only true mortal sin.

oh R.J. I do not say you are wrong!! I just say this about what you said, these 7 detestable sins are this way because, some look upon them as the same as any other sin, what makes these bad in particular to me is the fact that one does them, and they could led us to keep doing them. you know repeating them, and if we are walking in the light and not the darkness,we also know what true repenting is,indeed! a 360 dergree turn away from them, but as everyone know lieing is easy, a quick rush towards evil espically in this world is easy! Are ours sins forgiven? of course they are,but the idea is to NOT repeat them, and to be tough on ourselves if we lack knowledge in a certain area,is all. Like you said the motal sin is Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit!! But these are so easy to do,and so easy for our mind to forget, because we want to,that is what makes these 7 so bad to me. blessing!!

I have looked back at my threads and tried to find where I was so disrespectful?

Other than a simple disagreement, which is a part of T.J., please show me where I was so rude and I will amend and apologize. No sharp words or language, no calling names that I see. Again, T.J.'s is a place where many respectfully disagree. Please, you show me respect and show me where mine was more than a disagreement and can substantiate your hurt feelings.

Peace be with you Sister!

The most common list of the seven deadly sins is: wrath, greed, sloth, pride, lust, envy, and gluttony. It is not a biblical list. The idea behind them as cardinal or deadly sins is that they are the root of other sins. It is not difficult to imagine an obviously sinful act - such as deceit, gossip, murder - being driven by one or a combination of these cardinal sins. The seven deadly sins were never compiled with the understanding that sin outside of this list is less than deadly.

Keep asking questions, but don't let yourself so easily "read between the lines" and gleen out disrespect, especially when none was intended.
And peace be with you Sister!

I pretty much share John Calvin's sentiments in that all sins are mortal simply because Romans 6:23 rings true. However, for the believer, all sins are venial because there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1).

That's right: Romans 6:23 for non-believers and Romans 8:1 for believers!
