I look forward each morning spending time with Jesus. Even when I was still teaching full-time, I would allow myself at least 30 minutes to renew my mind in His Word before I set out to teach my students. Now that I am retired from full-time teaching, I have more time to spend in His Word and I'm loving it! Every born again believer has a desire to study God's Word. Jesus lives in my heart! Of course He wants me to know His Word!
God wants me to trust Him with all my trials, which I have learned to do. He always takes care of them, maybe not right away, but eventually He does. He either removes them completely, or He shows me how to move through them. Christians who renew their minds with God's Word on a daily basis struggle less in areas of their lives. They ask God to help them with a problem, then they rest in Him. They know He has the answer and will soon reveal it to them. Matthew 7:7-Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. Each morning as I renew my mind with God's Word, I delight in His presence. I praise Him for Who He is. I thank Him for all His blessings. I talk to Him about other people, friends, and loved ones. I ask Him if there's anyone or anything in particular He would like for me to pray about. He always puts someone or something on my mind. Then I talk to Him about the needs in my life. I have learned that true peace, joy, contentment, deliverance, and victory come as a result of spending time with Jesus and renewing my mind in His Word.
As my day unfolds, and I'm no longer studying His Word, I still continue to fellowship with Him and listen for His voice. Jesus is my best friend! Of course He wants to talk to me! The more I fellowship with Him, the less I sin. But, when I do sin, He convicts me. I quickly ask Him to forgive me and He does, because He loves me. Remember (complaining, worrying, murmuring, fault-finding, etc. are all sin); found my self complaining about something today--oops!
God's Word is changing me little by little and I welcome this transformation. I want to become a mature Christian. As long as I stay in His Word and maintain an on-going, intimate relationship with Him; He will continue to change me until He takes me home. God's Word is alive! He wants us to study it, learn it, believe it, and act on it.
Remember the song, "What a Friend We Have in Jesus". If you haven't listened to the words lately, pull it up on the internet and take a listen. What is a friend? A friend is someone we spend time with; we talk to them, we confide in them, we want to please them, we respect them, we enjoy them, we feel comfortable asking them for help, we help them, we love them. Jesus is our perfect friend! He will never leave us. Deuteronomy 31:8-It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; He will not leave you nor forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.
