Are these verses wrong or right as it pertains to Eternal Life? And why doesn't these verses apply if against?

Luk 10:25 And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted Jesus, saying, Master, “what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”

Luk 10:26 Jesus said unto him, What is written in the law? how read thou?

Luk 10:27 And he answering said, Thou shall love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbor as thyself.

Luk 10:28 And Jesus said unto him, you has answered right: “this do, and thou shall live.”

We can obey Luke 10:27 in ten seconds. It is all about depth of intent. Sincere repentance Psalm 51:17. Lay down your life Matt 16:24.

The young rich man in Mark 10:17-31 told to sell all he had. That is a ten second donation.

The focus of a discussion like this needs to be on: 'how do we know / judge ourselves for the depth of intent we have reached'?

I will partially agree with anyone who advocates a works based salvation. As we are known by our fruits. We are called to judge ourselves harshly / in fear and trembling Phil 2:12, 1 Cor 11:31. Someone who continues in mortal sins that upset God such that He in the OT ordained a stoning to death for such, does not have any depth of intent / love for God. Fact.

But yet we will argue in circles all day as none of us are God that can judge a mans heart and mind at the required depth of intent Jer 17:9-12.

The only time I can confidently say someone is saved, is if I see them martyred for their belief. As then they have ''truly'' laid their life down for God / Jesus.
God on the other hand, well He knows our hearts right now. He does not make the mistake of grafting a devil into His family. He is not a fool. OSAS is true and so too is the need to judge works to ensure we are in Christ and not just a pew warmer.

If we love God we will work for Him. If you love your wife, you will be faithful to her. 1 + 1 = 2.

very interesting scripture here stating we must be working for something, yet we know we can not work for salvation, so we do work for rewards it appears. Also very interesting is we can loose these rewards it seems from this scripture.

The context here is deceit. The devil deceiving people into following a false Christ. False teachings.

They have worked for Christ. For the truth. That we may inherit heaven. The reward is heaven. Not rewards in heaven.

The lady is being told to repent and stop sinning. In 2 John 1:5 she is being asked ''And now, dear lady, I am not writing you a new command but one we have had from the beginning. I ask that we love one another.''

The exhortation to her is that she hold onto the truth she has received and deal with it. There is no skipping past this and getting into heaven. That is what false christ's do. They make us think we can get to heaven without loving one another. Without obeying God. If we follow them, we will lose our reward. We will not be in heaven.

2 John 1:7 I say this because many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist.

yeah is easy to throw the word love out there. But when it comes to the responsibilities and expectations of love and of a bride. i always hear crickets. Perhaps another reason why the Marriage rates of this world are statistically decreasing and the divorce rates are increasing.

@regibassman57 would not understanding the roles and responsibilities of love and the traditional roles and responsibilities of a husband and bride give further understanding of scripture and the Heavenly Father?

An infant or child expects love.
However an Adult expects roles and responsibilities of love.
If your spouse commits adultery "showing a lack of love" even if the individual claims they love you; would an Adult not consider giving that individual a divorce for being unfaithful and transgressing the covenant?

I understand the Love of God and what He expect from me (John 15:10; 1John 5:3; 2John 1:6 and many more).

Our struggle is how we feel emotionally in the times of temptation. Trying to Love someone that "we feel" makes us emotional in a negative sense. But we keep failing because we are looking at the person as if they are the evil spirit inside of us stealing our peace.

They are not the problem... Satan makes us feel negative (Eph. 6:12). If we hold to God's peace (John 14:27), we cannot feel negative. If we do not identify Satan as the problem in ourselves emotionally, we will never take the victory.

The other person is in battle with Satan just as we are, but we feel so self aborb during trials, we don't feel like bearing one anothers burdens at the time.

To Love God and our neighbor is easy, but to Love God and our neighbor in the times of trials and tribulations, this is difficult. This is what we must perfect.

Trials and tribulations come to perfect us (Rom. 5:3-5; Jam. 1;2-4; 1Pet. 1:7; 4:12,13).
