Water Baptism Saves The Righteous

WATER BAPTISM SAVES “JEWS” – THOSE WITH CIRCUMCISED HEART

(Water) baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, (1 Peter 3:21).

Peter is saying, water baptism (for the forgiveness of sins-Acts 2:38) saves us.” This is because Peter was the Apostle to the “Circumcision,” those who practiced circumcision of the flesh according to the Mosaic Law before converting to live by the grace of GOD for their faith in Jesus Christ. Before converting to Christ, their heart was spiritually “circumcised” of the sins of the flesh by living in the Spirit as followers of the righteousness of the Mosaic Law. Those whose heart was “circumcised” of the sins of the flesh by living in the Spirit were called “Jews.” This is because circumcision is of the heart by the Spirit, not the circumcision of the flesh made with hands (Romans 2:28-29) according to the Mosaic Law. When the “righteous” (those whose heart was circumcised of the sins of the flesh to practice righteousness) were baptized with water they were forgiven of past sins, justified, saved, by being made alive together with the Spirit of Jesus Christ.

And if the righteous one is scarcely saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? (1 Peter 4:18).

…let no one deceive you.
He who does righteousness is righteous, even as that One is righteous (1 John 3:7).

Do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor abusers, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you are washed, but you are sanctified, but you are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God (1 Corinthians 6:9-11).

And if a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand (Mark 3:25).

For a time will be when they will not endure sound doctrine, but they will heap up teachers to themselves according to their own lusts, tickling the ear (2 Timothy 4:3).

The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears open to their prayers. But the Lord's face is against those who do evil (1 Peter 3:12).

If a man also lies with mankind, as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be on them (Leviticus 20:13).

Which way America, righteousness or unrighteousness; into the Kingdom of GOD, or perdition?

In the name of the Lord Jesus,...........may GOD bless

This is an interesting post! Something I've also always wondered is the concept of fire baptism, how does that work and how many have been baptized by fire?

Loyal
I Googled the 'baptized by fire' -- it's a phrase used by charismatics to describe getting through a rough situation in life. It's not something a person would desire to experience. It would be like surviving a car wreck or a house fire.

Being 'totally immersed / engulfed / in a bad situation. Something that has been survived.

This thread started out to show that all who are baptized with water HAVE NOT BEEN JUSTIFIED AND SAVED, until their heart is circumcised of the sins of the flesh through repentance.

But in repect to being baptized with the Holy Spirit of Christ, the Spirit of adoption, the Comforter, the Holy Ghost,............these all have the same Spirit, but are not all the same Spirit.

Luke 3:16 John answered, saying to them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but...........he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:
Hebrews 12:29 For our God is a consuming fire................1 John 4:8 .............for God is love.

Acts 1:8 But you shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you:............

The Holy Spirit of Christ will come upon you and grind you like wheat, to spiritually crucify you, to "destroy the sin in your life" to make you a holy Son and heir of GOD in Christ Jesus.

In the name of the Lord Jesus,.......may GOD bless

Look at the verse just prior To Hebrews 12:29 vs 28 "Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and Godly fear For our God is a consuming fire."

The 1 John 4:8 passage " He who does not love does not know God, for God is love." vs 6 and 7 "We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. Bu this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error. Beloved, let us love one another for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God."

You're taking part of the Heb vs and joining the 1 John 4:8 passage together as if they're one verse.

And Acts 1:8 "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

You Seem to be taking Scriptures and putting your own spin on them.

The purpose Of the Holy Spirit is to come to indwell each believer at the time of their salvation. His role is Not to spiritually crucify a person. He won't be destroying sin in anyone life. He Also gives a person discernment of Scripture. Our teacher. He let's us know in our heart when someone is trying to have Scripture say things it isn't really saying.

No one becomes a holy Son upon salvation.

WE SAID:

1) The Holy Spirit of Christ will come upon you and (grind you like wheat),
2) to (spiritually crucify you),
3) to ("destroy the sin in your life")
4) to make you a (holy Son and heir of GOD in Christ Jesus.)

1) The Holy Spirit of Christ will come upon you and grind you like wheat, (This was my error), He will grind him to powder, not wheat.

Whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder (Matthew 21:44).

2) to spiritually crucify you,

Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin (Romans 6:6).
Our "old man," our "body of sin" is "destroyed" as we are cleansed of unrighteousness as we are "spiritually crucified" to "die" to the affections and lusts of the flesh to be born of GOD.
I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me (Galatians 2:20).

3) to "destroy the sin in your life"

Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin (Romans 6:6).

4) to make you a holy Son and heir of GOD in Christ Jesus.

He who overcomes will inherit all things, and I will be his God, and he will be My son (Revelation 21:7).
A believer overcomes the world by Christ being formed in them to become a son and heir of GOD.

……In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world" (John 16:33).

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
For all that is in the world,
the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world (1 John 2:15-16).

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9)
As we continue to repent and confess our sins, over time, He will cleanse us of ALL Unrighteousness (sin) to make us holy.

In respect to the initial post, we were trying to say, "just because a believer has been baptized with water does not necessarily mean they HAVE BEEN SAVED.

The JUST (those who practice righteousness) shall live by faith.

A believer is not JUST until they have repented to become a DOER OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, or

UNTIL THEIR HEART HAS BEEN "CIRCUMCISED" OF THE SINS OF THE FLESH, or

Until they have been "CLEANSED OF UNRIGHTEOUSNESS," or

Until GOD HAS JUSTIFIED THEM, which does not happen until they have CRUCIFIED THE AFFECTIONS AND LUSTS OF THE FLESH.

To be forgiven of past sins does not make a believer JUST/RIGHTEOUS.

Salvation is: being forgiven of past sins, being under the grace of GOD for our faith, being cleansed of unrighteousness through repentance, to being SAVED by being made alive together with the Spirit of Christ when forgiven of all trespasses by repenting and confessing our sins...........

unto being made holy when sanctified completely by being anointed with the Holy Spirit of GOD the Father to be a "son" and heir of GOD in the Kingdom and presence of the LORD.

May GOD bless,..........

Someone told me that being baptized without wearing a shirt to cover your upper body was sinful. Is there anything in the Bible to justify this?

There are a couple of verses in the Bible that say Baptism saves you..... but being dunked in water alone doesn't save you.
There are a couple of verses that that say believing in Jesus saves you.... but faith alone doesn't save you, even the demons believe.
There are one of two verses that says if you confess Jesus with your mouth, you and your family will be saved.... but that doesn't save you or your family either. (Indeed, I know many Christians with un-saved spouses and children)

Then there are some verses about being born again, taking off the old man.. putting on Christ... living for Him, obeying Him, and being full of the Spirit.
These verses are harder to argue with.

No, Peter does not say anything of the sort. Baptism does not save anyone. When we know how to correctly read and interpret Scripture, water baptism is God's ordained ceremonial rite of entrance into the New Covenant of God in Christ. Entering into Christ is what saves a person, water baptism is how Scripture dictates that we do so...

Romans 6:3*
Or are you ignorant of the fact that those of us who were baptized through immersion in water into Christ Jesus, were baptized into His death?

Galatians 3:27*
because however many of you who were baptized into Christ, have entered Christ.

Acts 2:41
So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added to the church that day about three thousand souls.

In Acts 2:38 Peter says that we must repent and receive water baptism in Christ's name so that we can be forgiven of our sins and receive the indwelling Holy Spirit. He does not say that water baptism saves - he says that water baptism is how we enter into Christ, and entering into Christ is what saves us.

(This is not an accurate interpretation of the Scripture.)

Galatians 3:27*
because however many of you who were baptized into Christ, have entered Christ.
(For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body (NOT water)—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit - 1 Corinthians 12:13).

Acts 2:41
So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added to the church that day about three thousand souls.
(The Scripture does not say they were added to the church)

(It says repentant believers that are baptized (with water) "in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins would receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.)

We believe/understand the following explains the true meaning of Romans 6:3-7 for believers to be baptized INTO Christ Jesus with the Spirit of the Lord, NOT water.
We stand open to correction/clarification because we are always trying to gain a better understanding of Scripture to end any division over doctrine.

Romans 6:3-7 is misunderstood by many today, because the church did not endure sound doctrine.

This needs to be closely read with an open mind to understand, and so that the reader is not blinded through unbelief.

A baptizer does the water baptism "in the name of Jesus Christ" as His ambassador for the forgiveness of past sins, which IS NOT the same as being baptized into Christ Jesus and His death with His Spirit when the believer was justified and made the righteousness of GOD in Christ. Each item mentioned in the previous sentence can be shown separately.

The passage shows how believers were justified as members in Christ Jesus by being baptized with His Spirit into His death, because “He who has died is justified of sin” (Romans 6:7).

It was Jesus Christ who died for all/was raised from the dead for our justification and returned as a quickening Spirit on Pentecost to justify repentant believers into Christ Jesus by being joined together with His Spirit into His death and raised together. This did not happen until believers overcame the world, put off the sins of the flesh, crucified the affections and lusts of the flesh, or until their heart was circumcised of the flesh, which are all saying the same thing. Water baptism has nothing to do with being buried with HIM/HIS Spirit (not water) into HIS death to be justified and raised together. Believers are initially saved from condemnation by the curse for sins of the Law by being under the grace of God for their faith, saved from a guilty conscience by being forgiven of past sins, and saved from the unrighteousness of sin in their life as they are cleansed of sin by regeneration of the washing of water of the Word unto being born of the Spirit and justified as righteous by being made one Spirit with the Lord.

From Romans 3:30 we see that a believer was justified either BY faith (for believers whose heart was already "circumcised" of the sins of the flesh) and THROUGH faith (for believers whose heart was not yet "circumcised" of the sins of the flesh through repentance) from Romans 3:30. Because Gentiles were typically more worldly, the process of being cleansed of unrighteousness was THROUGH faith as they SOUGHT TO BE justified (from Galatians 2:17) while they worked out their salvation.

Gentiles received the Spirit of adoption and were saved by being made alive WITH Christ when they were forgiven of all trespasses by faith and repentance. By being WITH Christ, they were then conformed to a likeness of His death to be justified by being baptized with HIS Spirit into HIS death and raised together by being made one Spirit with the Lord. Being made alive WITH Christ is not the same as being JUSTIFIED and RISEN as a member IN Christ Jesus.

We also see this in 1 Corinthians 6:11. And such WERE some of you (after they were cleansed of unrighteousness by putting off the sins of the flesh), But you WERE washed (they were cleansed of the unrighteousness in their life by the washing of regeneration by the water of the Word of GOD unto being sanctified), but you are sanctified (holy by being made one Spirit with the Lord when they were justified as a member in Christ Jesus after being cleansed of unrighteousness), but you are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus (by the baptizer doing the water baptism for the forgiveness of past sins "IN THE NAME of Jesus Christ - Colossians 3:17) AND by the Spirit of our GOD (when they were justified as a member IN Christ Jesus by being baptized with the Spirit of the Lord into His death and raised together (Rom 6:3,5,7, Philippians 3:10) after their heart was "circumcised" by putting off the sins of the flesh - Romans 3:30).

1) Gentiles were reconciled to God and Alive WITH Christ by receiving the Spirit of adoption when forgiven,

2) Heart cleansed of sin to be JUSTIFIED/RISEN/SAVED FROM DEATH by being baptized with Spirit INTO Christ Jesus,

3) Sanctified wholly by being anointed with the Holy Spirit of God the Father to be a saint OF Christ (Christlike).

Children of born-again believers were born holy by receiving the Spirit of Jesus Christ from their parents at conception (from 1 Cor. 7:14). They were born IN CHRIST by the Spirit of Jesus Christ being in them. This gave them the right to be born of the Spirit as a child of God by repenting and trusting in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, and then going on to be “perfected” when sanctified wholly by being anointed with the Holy Spirit of GOD the Father.

The “dead in Christ” shall rise first (1 Thessalonians 4:16). Those IN Christ by the Spirit of Jesus Christ being in them who are spiritually “dead in sins” have the right to be saved as a child of God by faith in Jesus Christ and repentance. Saved in Jesus Christ, we are saved from death, we have Eternal Life, and will inherit all things in the Kingdom of God.

The RIGHTEOUS live (are born of the Spirit) by faith (Romans 1:17).

Those who practice RIGHTEOUSNESS are RIGHTEOUS, even as He is righteous (1 John 3:7).

Those who practice righteousness are born of God (1 John 2:29b).

Let the righteous (G1342-those who practice righteousness) continue to be justified-G1344 (from Revelation 22:11c).

Those who practice unrighteousness shall not inherit the Kingdom of God (from 1 Cor 6:9-11, Galatians 5:19-21).

The Lord is not willing that any perish, but that ALL come to repentance (from 2 Peter 3:9).

In Christ, ALL shall be made alive (from 1 Corinthians 15:22b).

If I be lifted up from the earth, will draw ALL men to me; and him who comes to me I will in no wise cast out.

He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ (Philippians 1:6).

HE has made ALL things beautiful in HIS time.

For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:38-39).

What I tell you in darkness, speak in the light; and what you hear in the ear, preach on the housetops (Matt. 10:27).

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel,

and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: (1 Thessalonians 4:16).

With thanksgiving to GOD our Father, in the name of the Lord Jesus, .........may GOD bless

People tend to make salvation complicated. Look at 1 Corinthians 15:1-3 and Romans 10;9-10 to uncomplicate it. Who does a person believe that Jesus Christ is and what did He do on the cross do we believe that in our heart. At that point the Holy Spirit enters us and changes us. There will be a positive difference in the person.

That is calvinism, Sue, and nothing in calvinism is according to the whole truth of God's Word. No one is saved just because they believe. There are over 300 passages of Scripture regarding salvation and eternal life, taking two passages like you have done and claiming that "This is all you need to know and do!" is not very...forthcoming. We need to take all of the Scripture on a subject, not just two or three passages. When we do that, its like taking a 300 piece jig-saw puzzle, placing two or three pieces on the table, and exclaiming how beautiful the puzzle is.

According to the full disclosure of Scripture, one is NOT saved until he chooses to believe in Christ, chooses to repent from his former lifestyle of sinful behavior, and chooses to receive water baptism into Christ - the ONLY Scriptural means of entering the New Covenant in Christ. Believing is only the first prerequisite according to Scripture, not the beginning and the end. Man-made doctrine is what sends people to hell by the millions...because they are whispered into men's ears by seducing spirits, doctrines of demons in disguise.

What you believe those passages mean does not line up with the totality of Scripture, and that is where your theology goes amiss. In I Peter 3:21 when he says "saves" he is not talking about baptism as the means of salvation, which he then explains. Being dunked in water does absolutely nothing if you do not understand what he is saying. Baptism in the first century was how to enter into the new covenant, it was a physical ceremonial rite of entry wherein you promise to walk in obedience to God and then do so conscientiously. You can't get into your house without walking through the door (unless you are a thief and go in through breaking a window), just so, you can not enter Christ or the new covenant without receiving water baptism.

Blessings.

To add.a.comment. some churches use a baptismal robe. I've never seen anyone being baptized without a shirt on. Maybe.a.modesty thing, I don't know. But modisty in a church is always good.

There is also an antitype which now saves us—baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, (1 Peter 3:21).

We believe we went beyond the actual meaning of this verse. By the act of faith in being baptized with water for the forgiveness of sins, the believer is saved from a guilty

conscience by being forgiven of past sins, but not saved as born of the Spirit and justified, unless/until their heart was circumcised of the sins of the flesh by the Spirit.

Christ came into the world to save His people from their sins, to "take away" their sins. We can be forgiven of our transgressions/sins/trespasses, but that does not "take away"

the sin in our life (our unrighteousness). God forgives us our trespasses/sins/transgressions when we confess them as we trust in Jesus Christ, and also cleanses/purges

/purifies us of our unrighteousness/sin/iniquity by the washing of the water of the word of God as we continue to repent and walk with the Spirit. A believer is not born of the

Spirit/justified/saved by being made alive together with the Spirit of Jesus Christ until they repent to put off the sins of the flesh and practice righteousness.

The righteous are scarcely saved. (We are not saved until God sees us as righteous in being one who has repented to practice righteousness, to live uprightly as we should live.)

The righteous live by faith. (We do not live by being made alive with Christ until God sees us as being one who is righteous by practicing righteousness)

He who fears God and practices righteousness is acceptable.

Those who practice unrighteousness are not of God,..............and those who practice unrighteousness shall not inherit the Kingdom of God (unless they repent).

The LORD your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your descendants, to love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul,

that you may live (Deuteronomy 30:6). Our heart is circumcised by the Spirit of the sins of the flesh to love the Lord and be saved by being made alive with Christ.

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: (John 1:12). Receiving His Spirit gives us the right to

become a child of God. But we are not born of the Spirit, justified and saved as a child of God until our heart has been circumcised by putting off the sins of the flesh.

We are not justified, and saved from the sins of the flesh in our life if we continue to willfully practice unrighteousness.

If you live according to the flesh, you shall die. But if you through the Spirit mortify the deeds of the body (overcome the world, 1 John 2:16), you shall live (Romans 8:13).

If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness is born of Him (1 John 2:29).

And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him (Colossians 3:17).

With love in Christ, in the name of the Lord Jesus, with thanks to God the Father through Jesus Christ.

May GOD bless

There is also an antitype which now saves us—baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, (1 Peter 3:21).

Greetings,

And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him (Colossians 3:17).

on inspection, i noticed a large part of your post was 'stuckthrough' using the strike-through formatting, which TalkJesus does not presently support.

Did you want it edited? Let me know.

Bless you ....><>

When we read this post, we do not see any "strike-through" characters. Do others see my post as being "struck-through" on their screen?

Take care, and may God bless

Yes, you-all did...

We tried to show how or in what way a believer is saved in this verse, and then went on to more completely explain how/when a believer was/is saved and justified to become an heir of God.
When is a believer saved?
What is a believer saved from?
When is a believer justified?
How/when do we become an heir of God?
What does it mean to be righteous?
How/when was a believer baptized into Christ Jesus?

Did you see any errors in what we posted, and if so, please use scripture to correct us?

Thanks, and may God bless.
