He said to me, "Son of man, watch and listen. Pay close attention to everything I show you. You have been brought here so I can show you many things. Then you will return to the people of Israel and tell them everything you have seen." Ezekiel 40:4 NLT
The apostle Peter once wrote this about preparation: “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have” (1 Peter 3:15).
That’s great advice, but you might be asking, “How can I prepare myself to tell others about Jesus?” Ezekiel provides a good clue. Before an angel of the Lord showed the prophet a vision of the rebuilt temple in Jerusalem, he told Ezekiel to pay close attention to what he was about to see and hear—and then tell the people of Israel everything he had seen and heard.
Obviously, Ezekiel needed to pay close attention to what God would show him and tell him. In the same way, you should commit yourself to paying close attention to what God teaches you in your times of prayer and Bible reading. When you do that, you’ll be prepared when you meet someone who needs to hear about Jesus.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to watch and listen as You show me Your truths in the Bible. Teach me and prepare me to share the faith you have given me with those who need You.
