Was Adam formed or created?

In my reading, God rested on the seventh day and got back to work on the eighth day of creation, forming Adam, making this the second week of creation, which will make Christ's millenium reign God's second day of rest.

Genesis Chapter 1 to Genesis Chapter 2 verse 3 is an overview of the Creation of the Heavens and Earth.

Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Gen 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Adam was already mentioned created on the sixth day in Genesis Chapter 1 verse 26-27

Gen 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
Gen 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From Gen 2:4 and onward it starts to get a little more into the generations and some specifics

Gen 2:4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lastly Adam was both formed and created; "to answer your main question"

Gen 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Gen 5:1 This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him;
Gen 5:2 Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.

I know this is the generally accepted understanding. You may cling to it as many have, do, and will. I had to dig deeper and seek harder myself.

You ask a question you seem to have an answer to and even when an answer is given you withhold your answer/wisdom.

If you are going to not consider what I have written will you have me argue? In my, just another mere human's, understanding humans were created in the sixth day or phase of creation. Adam, who is the first ancestor in the family that would deliver the seed of the woman or Jesus, was formed on the first day of the second week of universe in which we are nearing the completion culminating in God/Jesus' second day of rest. Genesis 5 reveals the prejudice of other humans who aren't of the Jewish family, deeming or considering them sub or non human. I am not about being mad nor bothering you. I hope this helps if you will consider my understanding . How could Adam and Eve been "created", male and female, on the sixth day when Adam's rib, during a period between Adam and this, was taken for Eve?

Dear Brothers,
Something of interest to you both might be what is called a Chronological Bible. Though I'm sure it will create an even greater dissension. However, I do believe that in this particular discussion of yours it might actually assist. At least that is my hope.

The one I have found to be interesting, not necessarily helpful for how I read, is called The Reese Chronological Bible. I'll type up the comments on the dating. The page is actually called "A Final Word About the Dating". I truly hope that if you choose to search it out that it's benefit will out way any conflicts.

With the Love of Christ Jesus.

Good men's opinions will vary on most things, and certainly do in the field of Bible Chronology. Experts in this field have included James Ussher, Martin Anstey, Sir Robert Anderson, Clarence Larkin, Henry Halley, Charles Fred Lincoln, Merrill Unger, Edwin Thiele, John Whitcomb, Donald A. Waite, and others. No two men have agreed on every date. For example, consider the date of the birth of Abraham: Whitcomb, 2165 B.C.; Unger, 2161 B.C.; Lincoln, 2128 B.C.; Larkin, 2111 B.C.; Usser, 1996 BC.; Klassen, 1967 B.C. However, even with variance of a few years in different dating patterns, basic chronological order of scripture is generally accepted. For example, Ussher, Lincoln and Klassen all agree that it is 2,008 years from creation to the birth of Abraham.
Because scholars vary, a dating system was most difficult to decide upon. In recent years, Frank R. Klassen has developed a dating arrangement that gives fresh insight into the many problems connected with biblical chronology. For some ten years, Klassen has studied Bible chronology full time. With his architectural and engineering background, he has devised numerous graphs and charts that seem the most accurate to Mr. Reese.

On the following page is shown the calendar used by the Jews, April being the first month of the year. Klassen is able to show what calendar was used (out of a possible 14 arrangements) in any year of history.

Regarding the dates of the first days of creation, Mr. Klassen's reasoning seems most plausible. God is a god of order. In the bible April 1, the first day of the first month, often surfaces. The tabernacle was completed on April 1, 1461 B.C. (the veil was raised). Klassen believes Jesus was born April 1, 5 B.C. (not December 25). No one has ever satisfactorily accounted for the origin of "April Fools' Day." It is theory that, because of derision directed at our Lord and those who remembered His true Birthday, it developed into a "Fools' Day," Jesus began His public ministry at age 30 in A.D. 26, which is 4,000 years after Adam was created a mature man of probably the same age. Klassen's calendar research shows indeed that April 1 in 3975 B.C. was a Friday, the sixth day (man created).

The beginning of time has always been highly debatable in the scholarly world. Advocates of the "Gap Theory" allow for millions of years between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2. This view has been advocated by such scholars as Harry Rimmer, C. I. Scofield, and M. R. DeHann.

In recent years the thinking of many has shifted to the position that Genesis 1:1 and 1:2 have gap between them and that the earth is not millions of years old, but actually of recent vintage--God creating a mature world, just as He created mature man and animals. An outstanding book contributing to this theory is The Genesis Flood (Morris and Whitcomb).

May the dates and titles be kept in proper perspective. They are only aids. This Bible would be a great value without them. Only the Scriptures themselves are really important and inspired.

I will start out saying Adam was formed a very special man. He was not created on the sixth day but formed on the eight day or you could say the first day of the second week. Scholars I have studied with just say the eight day. The number eight in biblical numerology stands for a new beginning. And with God forming Adam on this eight day, then taking a rib from Adam, the old manuscripts say curve, and God making Adam a special woman or help mate for him.

God didn’t take a rib from the men created on the (sixth) day to make them a help mate. He didn’t form this group of people, but created them. There is a difference between the people created on the sixth day and the single man he formed on the eight day.

When God created man both male and female on the sixth day, God told these people to basically fish and hunt and live off the land. He also told these people to be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth. If God use the term replenish the earth, then one must assume that the earth was inhabited once before. It was, it was during that period of time at the very foundation, a period of time before the book of Genesis. We were all there. Another study for another time.

And God saw everything that he had made and it was very good and this was the end of the sixth day. At this point God has not mentioned of anyone tilling the ground. God then rested from all his works on the seventh day, blessed and sanctified that day and rested from all his work which he created, not formed, you will see there is a difference.

Gen2:5 for the LORD GOD had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there WAS NOT A MAN TO TILL THE GROUND. When God said there WAS NOT A MAN, you can’t take it any other way. There was not a man to till the ground.

Gen 2:7 Here Gods forms one man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and man became a living soul. God forms one man on this eighth day and refers to him as, THE MAN, meaning that particular man, not just any man. God then took a rib/curve from THE MAN and made him a special woman.

On the sixth day God created many people, scholars think that twelve billion people were created on this sixth day, but on the eight day, only one man, and referred to this man as,THE MAN. This little English word, (The), means that particular man, not just any man. THE MAN would be later named, Adam.

Adam and Eve were a very special pair from this sense, Adams family was God’s chosen people,Adams family will be the family that the Christ will be born unto, umbilical cord to umbilical cord. Adams family is the family that God will teach his word to first, for them to be later disperse them throughout the world to teach all the other peoples. Adams family are referred to in the Bible as the Adamic race, the Israelites, and the Jews. These are all one in the same peoples.

If one will take note, besides the Bible being God’s word, Adams family is a main focus in that none of the other peoples are even mentioned unless they come in contact with Adams family.

I want to make this very clear about Adams family being God’s chosen people, they were not any better than people the peoples created on the sixth day. God loves all his children. When God said chosen, he meant chosen to perform a work, a task. That task was keeping that seed line perfect and mixing or interbreeding out side their family, keeping that perfect seed line undefiled, for the birth of Christ, learning God’s word then being dispersed through out the word to teach the other peoples God Word/Truth. This is the only reason they were Gods chosen people. Not cause God loved them any more than the children created on the sixth day. Period

When you think about it, it only makes sense that God would have a very special man and woman for his Son, Jesus the Christ, to be borned unto, not to just any man or woman, a hit or miss situation, but forming a perfect man, then taking the helical curve of DNA from, THE MAN, and making this special woman, the perfect womb that our Christ would be born unto.

Adam and Eve were the only two people that were in the Garden of Eden. There was two other entities in the garden also, The Tree of life and the Tree of good and evil, but that was it from the start. All the sixth day creation lived outside of the garden. In fact, when Cain was kicked out of the garden for killing his brother, Able, Cain traveled eastward of the garden of Eden, to the land of Nod, there he took a wife from the six day creation of people.

I have two issues with your understanding.
1. The word interpreted replenish can be interpreted "fill".
2. There was no perfect seed line there was only the unbroken human seedline from Adam to Jesus.
The humans of Jesus' human family were "chosen" as example to us/humanity. No humans have known the blessings of God more than His human family and yet they still rely on themselves rather than God in spite of their suffering as a result of their faithlessness.

You're picking on a legitimate word there....Plenish means to stock or fill...Replenish means to restock or refill. Just so you know...

Genesis 2:7 King James Version (KJV)

7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Genesis 1:27
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Genesis 5:2
Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.

So, did God form Adam or did He create him? Answer; Yes.

There was no earth before it was created and therefore it could not have been plenished before and we must understand it has been human translaters who translated what Moses wrote that God said.

Of course there was no Earth before it was created! Everybody knows that. LOL I suspect though that you are speaking of a young Earth? We know that it had to be REplenished because God told Adam to replenish it. I believe God is smart enough to get the message across, even with human translators.

I have to wonder what you are reading to come to this conclusion?
Genesis 1:27-31 (KJV)

27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.

31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

Chapter 1 says very plainly that Adam was formed/created the sixth day
