Anyone else out there feel convicted of desiring heaven more than God? I feel so guilty of this. I know that desiring heaven above God is essentially wanting paradise more than him, and in a way I see it as idolatry. Anyone out there have any thoughts on this? Please pray that my greatest desire be HIM!!!
God bless!
Neil
I have had the opposite problem, and I had a person tell me, "you better care what goes on in heaven...you could end up with a terrible job, like cleaning toilets for eternity!"
Well, first of all, no matter what "the Lord has planned" it is "GOOD", thank you very much. I simply have never been able to bring myself to care about streets of gold, or mansions, or how many jewels in a crown. The bible says there is no way for us to imagine the good things God has, anything we could imagine would pale in comparison.
There was a book we did as a group, where the author created a scenario of different people going to the day of judgement, I know it was his interpretation of events, but I am not at all sure he expected some people to view it as a "bible" of sorts, it was difficult for me to get through that reminding folks, this is NOT a bible. Anyone else read it? I can't remember the name of it...
Anyway, back to feeling guilty about wanting heaven more than God, just my opinion, if you are not seeking the face of God, you will never see heaven. Jesus IS the Kingdom of God, everything about Him, the fact that He died for our sins, was raised up, overcame sin, and gave us the option to serve Him and only Him, as God intended from the beginning, with our whole being. Jesus said "if you have seen Me you have seen the Father". We are to seek His face, and in that process all thing will be added.
In my flesh I do not care if there is a mansion as we view it for me or not, I simply want to fix my eyes on the precious face of Jesus, and take it from there.
I am sorry if I offend any religion, I don't know all the ins and outs of all the religiosity, I am about every word of the bible and relationship with my God. I think if I were thinking too much on what God will give me, I would be missing the mark.
