Want Vs. Need

When was the last time you cough yourself saying "i want"? When life's going bad and things are not going our way we tend to say "I want". Like: i want to get this job so badly or i want this nightmare to end. Notice how we seem to say "want" a lot and "need" a lot less. Well while we focus on what we "want" God focuses on what we "need". Is this maybe making it harder for you to find what God is trying to make of your life? Do you need to focus more on what you "need" and less on what you "want" to be able to see closer to the way of the Lord?

When we focus on what we "want" we often get disappointments because while we focus on what we want God is focusing on what we "need". We get upset when things aren't going our way and what we ask is not being answered and we start to doubt. If we start to Perhaps focus more on what God "needs" from us and less on what we "want" from Him, then perhaps we will leave ourselves with less disappointments.

Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Hebrews 4:16

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 1 John 5:14
