Walking with God, what does that mean exactly?

Active
Hi brothers and sisters,

My question is this; When you die to self and submit yourself to live as Christ sees fit to be with Him wholeheartedly, to walk every day with Christ Jesus, that you let him take the reins of your life so to speak, 100%, What does that look like? Does it mean that you physically wait for cues to move, timing or waiting to feel a movement that is instantaneous OR is it a spiritual experience such as listening to God and asking God for guidance, not a physical thing?
Thank you.

The only way you can live as Christ is to have the Spirit of Christ.
And if you have the Spirit of Christ all these questions you have asked
will be taught to you by the Anointing that is within you.

Hi Josephine, We are in the world but not of it, and as such, there are many mundane things that have to be done. Normally, I for one, speak to God throughout my day about all sorts of things, as I go about my daily business. Occasionally I will feel the movement of the Spirit and that will cause me to centre in on what was on my mind when I felt him, and I will pray or act as appropriate. Scripture informs us, that we were chosen before the world was made, which to me means that the Lord has always been aware of me, even before I was aware of him. When I first set foot on the street to sing, ( I am a busker). I had an epiphany, I knew in my spirit that I was meant to do it, and I have been a street singer now since I was in my twenties, singing both secular and my own Christian songs. I am now 78 and am still singing in the streets. The amazing thing about my epiphany, is that when, over twenty years later I gave my life to Jesus and felt the presence of the Holy Spirit, I recognised him as the same Spirit I felt all those years before when I first stood on the street to sing. I am sure that some on this site will say that this can't happen, but for me it did. I have felt the Spirit more powerfully, when on occasions I have been praying for the sick and also when speaking to demonic forces. There are also long periods of time when I don't feel him at all, these, for me, are the loneliest and in these times I am more prone to doubt. but scripture always comes to comfort me. "I will never leave you or forsake you". that's comforted me on many occasions. Well this is some of my experiences regarding walking with the Lord. I pray it's of interest to you. bless you. Josephine, it is not about spiritual experiences (which can be deceptive because satan also works false miracles), it is about a change to your attitude to everything in life. In laymen terms, you move away from selfishness into selflessness in everything you do and think. You take on the character of Christ more and more, and love what God loves and hate what God hates.

This is not an overnight process. But the more striving you do, the better you get. The apostles call it a practice of righteousness. Those who are sincere in seeking this kind of righteousness will be empowered by the Spirit of God to overcome the sins of the flesh.

Aleph. (Psalms 119).............is a good guide.

1Blessed are those whose ways are blameless,
who walk according to the law of the Lord.
2Blessed are those who keep his statutes
and seek him with all their heart—
3they do no wrong
but follow his ways.
4You have laid down precepts
that are to be fully obeyed.
5Oh, that my ways were steadfast
in obeying your decrees!

6Then I would not be put to shame
when I consider all your commands.
7I will praise you with an upright heart
as I learn your righteous laws.
8I will obey your decrees;
do not utterly forsake me.

9How can a young person stay on the path of purity?
By living according to your word.

10I seek you with all my heart;
do not let me stray from your commands.

11I have hidden your word in my heart
that I might not sin against you.

12Praise be to you, Lord;
teach me your decrees.

13With my lips I recount
all the laws that come from your mouth.

14I rejoice in following your statutes
as one rejoices in great riches.

15I meditate on your precepts
and consider your ways.

We are all created different, and God speaks to us and works through us in different ways.

For me, God rarely speaks in the moment with specific direction, though I know that other people experience this quite often.

Instead, dyingto self and living for Jesus is about dealing with the big, broad issues of the Christian life - dealing with forgiveness, changing my attidude to people I find difficult, worshipping God in all that I do, having compassion for people who are in distress, speaking lovingly and truthfully...

And those things (I hope and pray) shape the way I respond in any particular situation.

But that's me, and God may speak and work in you in a very different way.

Blessings

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in Thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.
Psalm 19:14

The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth His handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath He set a tabernacle for the sun, Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race.

His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.
The law of the LORD is perfect,
converting the soul:
the testimony of the LORD is sure,
making wise the simple.
The statutes of the LORD are right,
rejoicing the heart:
the commandment of the LORD is pure,
enlightening the eyes.
The fear of the LORD is clean,
enduring for ever:
the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold:
sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
Moreover by them is Thy servant warned:
and in keeping of them there is great reward.

Who can understand his errors? cleanse Thou me from secret faults.

Keep back Thy servant also from presumptuous sins;
let them not have dominion over me:
then shall I be upright,
and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.

Let the words of my mouth,
and the meditation of my heart,
be acceptable in Thy sight,
O LORD,
my strength,
and my redeemer.

Hi Josephine

Everything written above by our loving brothers and sisters in Christ must be a big help to you, may our Lord truly Bless you in your walk with Him. That is exactly what it is.

When you came to Christ and repented of your sins, you chose to cloak yourself with Christ, His Spirit is in you, He loves you, as you walk with Him don't forget He is walking with you. How wonderful is that.

Your old self has been crucified, it has gone, you are a new creation, a new being, a new Josephine. You have a flesh body, but Jesus abides in your heart, you have been grafted into the vine, the original root stock, you are His.

So what is the difference, simple really, we no longer belong to sin, the world and the devil, we belong to God, we have the Holy Spirit in our heart, we rejoice and give thanks.

We are saved, we are His, we are His disciples, so we are to do what disciples do, they follow Jesus, they learn from Him daily, they try be like Him, repenting when we fail, what ever we do we should first ask ourself, what would Jesus do, what would Jesus say. The answers are all in The Word.

I believe as we grow in faith, taking up our cross daily and following Him, trying to be like Him, the Holy Spirit will guide us, prompt us and speak to us. We are in the World sister, but we do not belong to the world, we belong to Jesus, we come to the Father through Him, we give Him the Glory, He gives us the Blessings.

I also believe life is a prayer, what ever we do and see, needs our prayers, it may be seeing a couple struggling, a child hurting, it may be person in an accident, it may be reading the news, watch the news, etc, etc, every day something happens before our eyes, a prayer is to be lifted in Jesus Name.

You are on the right path sister, that wonderful narrow road, we do not see the sheep following each other to the slaughter on the wide road, we see what God has created on this lovely narrow road, the birds, the bees, the flowers the trees, we rejoice and give thanks because that is our expected service, we help where we can, we love as He loves, the Spirit guides us, all the days of our life.

Jesus loves you sister, we do too.

In His love

Hello Brother Paul,
I am really really grateful to all my brothers replies in helping me with this topic.
Thank you for your words Brother Paul.
Your message has filled me with Christs Love and my heart is singing.
I'm very tired as I started my new job last week and it's certainly taking it's toll.
I am asking the Lord for strength of mind, strength of character, fortitude and His love to get me through each day.
And now I will remember to always ask 'what would Jesus do, what would Jesus say'; thank you Brother Paul for that.
I'm so grateful that you guys are here to help me. Here is my fellowship and worship.
With so much love to you all.

Greetings sister,

We are servants of the living God, the amazing God, the incredible Jesus, we are as born again believes, one body in Christ Jesus. You hurt, we hurt, and visa versa, because we love and care one for another.

Thank you for sharing that you have started a new job, these things are a challenge, they can be so stressful but you will soon feel more at peace, getting to know the people, their names. the items, the processes, etc. It is a lot to take in but I am sure you have done it before and no doubt will do it again, it is something we have all done sister.

That bring us back to the Lord, Trust in the Lord always and lean not on your own understanding, I am sure you know the rest... Prov 3:5-6. Believe it sister it is Truth and the Truth sets us free, to be free indeed, we pray these words together.

Jesus is your rock Josephine, you are in His grip, how wonderful is that. Such love.

We come together, you, and all who read your heart felt message, in agreement, as the spirt guides us, in love, in Jesus precious name. Amen

I feel the warmth from your heart sister, Jesus loves YOU, we do too.

Bless you

Dear sister

If we all remembered to ask those simple questions we would be more right with God, we would be closer to our Lord. But with best intentions we do for a while forget, we seem to go into auto pilot mode, do and say things we later regret.

I am sure you will remember these special words and will be truly blessed.

'What would Jesus do, what would Jesus say?'

Jesus said, I am with you always, even to the end of time (as we know it on earth) And we will be with Him for all Eternity, with such a promise why do we worry?

Philippians 4:6-9 (NKJV)
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.
The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.

Jesus loves you we do to.

In His love. \o/
