The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone. You have multiplied the nation; you have increased its joy; they rejoice before you as with joy at the harvest, as they are glad when they divide the spoil. Isaiah 9:2-3 ESV
A season of loss, darkness, or doubt can be exhausting, especially if you don’t have any hope for the future. You may not know what will change things or how God could show up again. You may not have guarantees of the timing or the details. You can only wait, often without the answers and resolution you crave.
As the people of Israel waited for the Lord to return and to restore them, they had no idea how Jesus would reveal God’s kingdom among them. Some were ready for the Lord’s return, while others were not.
As you wait on God and seek the Lord’s direction, perhaps it may help to consider that the best you can do during this season is to remember. Remember that you can’t predict the details, but you can rest assured that the Lord will come.
At the right time, the Lord will provide joy and His transforming presence.
Prayer: Lord, help me wait with patience and expectation for Your return and restoration.
