Waiting for Blessings

And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God. Blessed [shalt] thou [be] in the city, and blessed [shalt] thou [be] in the field. Deuteronomy 28:2-3

In Deuteronomy 25-26, God gave the Israelites laws, then said in chapter 28 that if they obeyed, He'd bless them in the city, bless them in the field, bless their food, bless their possessions, bless their children--He'd bless them in every possible way. "The Lord shall make you have a surplus of prosperity" and "shall open to you His good treasury" (Deuteronomy 28:11-12 AMPC).

You don't always see these blessings immediately. You often have to wait for some time and trust that God is going to make good on His promises, bring your crop to full harvest, give an ample return on your investment, or cause your child to mature. All these things take time. In the meantime, you may wonder what became of His great promises.

Trust God. Have patience. "Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and carried it through?" (Numbers 23:19 NLT). James adds "Consider the farmers who patiently wait for the rains in the fall and in the spring. They eagerly look for the valuable harvest to ripen" (James 5:7 NLT).

Prayer: Dear Father, thank You that You promised to bless me for obeying You and that You will abundantly fulfill Your promises!
