Visions from The Holy Spirit - God's protection

Dear Strypes ,

Allow me to quote you ,
' I know the Holy Spirit uses dreams and visions to strengthen us. '

It is a true statement . The dreams forewarn us of any incidents that are likely to happen and they also strenghten us to walk ahead and NO TURNING BACK .

Isn't being a CHRISTIAN and with JESUS taking the centre stage of our lives worth the living ?

Even though this posting is almost two years after the original thread, I thought I might add something to it, so please, bear with me.

One incident I had experienced happened when I was married to my first husband.
He had epilepsy with which was always controlled with medication. As long as he took his meds. on a regular basis, he never would have a seizure. (I had witnessed him have a seizure once early in our marriage due to his running out of med. & I was not made aware of it...an awful thing to witness.)

In 2004, he got laid off of the job he had been working at for five or six years. He tried finding more work to no avail. He finally decided to file for S.S. Disability for this plus other health conditions. During the "determining phase" of disability, he started becoming deeply depressed, during which he confided in me a desire to end it all.

Naturally, I spent a lot of time then "on my knees".

Around this time, his health began to take a down turn. He would not be able to stand in one spot very long without his legs trembling; his voice started to become broken, etc.

Then on Sept. 1st of that year, he had a grand mal seizure (he was still taking the same meds. he had been all along). We got him in to see his doctor & lab tests revealed one of his seizure med. levels were down by half (or more, I can't really remember). The doctor started him on an increased level of this med. to bring him back up.

The shakyness in his legs & his speech problem continued, for a while with each visit to the dr. ending in adjusting medication.

Anyway, around the beginning of December of that year, I had a peculiar dream. My husband, myself & our two boys were in the family vehicle with my husband driving. Everything was going fine, when I happen to look over at my husband. He all of a sudden gets this odd look on his face as if he just totally gives up & throws his hands in the air off of the steering wheel. I frantically dove for the wheel to get the vehicle under control & the dream ends.

On December 15th following, he has a grand mal seizure in the evening, that ended in cardiac arrest. The paramedics could not revive him, nor the personnel at the hospital could. What grief took a hold of me. I never want to experience the same again.

At the family viewing at the funeral home: the first time I saw him in the coffin, I almost went to my knees. I was grieving so much. I told the Lord to take care of him till I could see him again. I heard as plain as day in my spirit, "He is shining like a diamond before his God." What wonders this statement has done for me in the many days to follow. I knew that he had accepted the Lord Jesus, but still I needed the reassurance.

Anyway, I can see in the days following the dream & his passing that the two were connected. I believe he had come to the point he was tired of fighting & he had given up. The Lord was merciful to him in so many ways.

God uses so many different ways to speak to his people, one of which is through dreams, of which He has spoken to me on several occasions.

Anyhow, I thought I would add this.
God bless,

Re: Visions from the Holy Spirit

No doubt someone who reads this thread is thinking, as the old joke says, "God wants spiritual fruit, not religious nuts." Let me say, in response, that it's been my experience that the Gifts of the Holy Spirit did not cease with the deaths of the apostles as some claim. You may not be seeing them evidenced in your church, but, by golly, I'm seeing them in mine as well as in my family, in my friends' lives, and in my own life. Mark 16:17 says in no uncertain terms: "These signs shall follow them that believe....." The phrase "them that believe" is all inclusive, not limited to a certain group.

Amen SpiritLedEd! I've been a witness to the gifts of the Spirit in my church. A brother gave a prophecy of encouragement; and the Lord has used me to impart words of wisdom/knowledge (I think so and I think it was a combination of the two). Sometimes I'll be praying in the spirit and then the interpretation will come; my mind won't even think of what to say.

Anyways, I remember two distinct dreams I had a long while back. One was more like a silent movie. In the first one there were wood and straw idols with candles. There were children dancing around them. When I woke up, the Lord said to me "Children are falling into idolatry." Another one I had was more like a dream. In it, a friend of mine (apparently, though I have no idea who the person was) and I run into a building. The first thing I noticed was that a sign on it said "secret sins." We go in and people were slumped over, in their nakedness and in the darkness. I immediately felt the presence of evil and ran out. I fell on my knees and started crying out to the Lord. Next thing I know, I'm praying over some people. When I woke up, the Lord said something to me, but I can't remember all of it. I know He said "People hide in the darkness and in their nakedness, sinning." and I know He said "These people can only be delivered by prayer."
