"This is the Victory that Overcometh the World....even our Faith" - 1 John 5:4
The bible proclaims afresh the truth that any Christian can live a life of victory in the Lord Jesus Christ:.....not defeat but victory.
The early leaders called the truth by different names.... and used different terms to describe it......They used the expression 'the life of faith'....as distinct from the life of worry and fear for the Christian. They spoke of 'the higher Christian life'... as distinct from the dreary style, so common in every generation.....They used the expression 'pactical holiness' to picture the life of the Christian......and that a Christian could live to manifest the very glory of God to those round about.
The experience of the vicar of St. John's,../. Keswick.....a hundred years ago,....While attending the Oxford Conference for the promotion of scripturtal holiness in 1874, he heard Even Hopkins speak on the difference between a seeking faith and a resting faith..... And here are the words that the Vicar of St Johns........ he wrote.......
"Has not my faith has been a seeking faith..rather than a resting faith?
Later he described what happened......He said I thought of the sufficiency of Jesus and said "I will rest in him" And I did rest in Him....and with this there came a new quality in behaviour....a new aim in ministry...and a new ambition to be totally yeilded to the LOrd Jesus Christ.
He had a vision and a dream, and a hunger and a thirst for a deeper walk with God
Even so I yeild myself for His use as I face the New Year ....2010..........in Jesus
