So He said, "No, but [as] Commander of the army of the LORD I have now come." And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped, and said to Him, "What does my Lord say to His servant?" Joshua 5:14
Joshua met the commander of God's armies, so he asked what he wanted him to do. The angel then gave Joshua the strangest instructions he'd ever heard. The armies of Israel were to march once around Jericho for six days, but on the seventh day, march around the city seven times. Then when the ram's horns let out a loud blast, they were to shout with all their might, and the city walls would simply collapse.
It took great trust for Joshua to relay these orders to his men. But they obeyed, and God performed the miracle.
What unusual instructions has God asked you to follow recently--or what crazy plan is He asking you to attempt right now? You may be convinced that doing it that way couldn't possibly work and if it's just your boss's idea--not a God inspiration--you could be right: maybe it won't work. But if it's of Him, you're in for a surprise.
Remember, God often thinks and works completely outside the box. Sometimes to get a job done you need to be able to think beyond present probabilities also.
Prayer: God, help me to trust You when You ask me to do unorthodox things. Give me the faith to follow Your instructions.
