Universalism. They All Can't Be Right or Can They?"

But does that pay respects to the people who go to Church every weekend, read the bible religiously, and pray three times a day? Isn't it a bit insulting to them to call yourself a Christian if all you do is claim to believe Jesus will sanctify your sins? What are your thoughts on tat?

No amount of reading the bible, praying and attending church will count for anything.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9

Well -- what does it mean to you that Jesus will sanctify your sins?

A person Can use all those things you mention as 'good works' on their part. And, as Fragrant Grace has commented -- they won't count for anything.

A person can 'go through the motions Of' and Not be a believer.

I've known a couple of people who Have read their Bible 'religiously' and not believed a word of it. There was another Forum I was on for a while -- one poster Had read their Bible a couple of times through and simply used their knowledge to find as many problems in the Bible as possible. And then there are those who - upon reading God's Word -- the Holy Spirit convicts them and they accept Christ. And, who knows, maybe in the process of interacting with true believers, that person finally did 'see the light'.

Thank you. Yes. Well, I do these things. Qualification is fairly easy in this regard. Do you see anywhere in these three verses that says, "You must to go to Church every week end, you must read the Bible, or you must pray three times a day to be saved?"

Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Rom 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Rom 10:11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

Words have meaning and some of the meanings can be lost, diluted, mistranslated, misunderstood, etc. There might be a solution.

This is a Christian forum. Your suggestion that all religions stem from God is a defamatory comment about our Lord. Yes. It's pretty simple, really, isn't it? Simply believe in Jesus, and you're a Christian. If I were judge, I'd want a pretty convincing reason from someone as to why they believed in Jesus, rather than just taking them at face value. Can I ask, what spurred your faith in the LORD?

For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
1 Timothy 2:5
It is very interesting that the word, "Christian" was never used by Jesus's disciples to describe themselves. The word Christian was used by nonbelievers to mock those who acted "Christ like." How can one become a "son of God"

So, why do you read the Bible?

No, but it's quite clear that around here, one's religiosity and adherence to Christianity is in no small measure determined to how readily one quotes scripture.

Around here on this forum, scripture is everything, and without that you have no foundation to say anything that will be believed.
